MMS Photo Viewer

I'm trying to figure out how to set the default image viewer for text/mms messages to the Gallery viewer. I don't know what the default app is, but it trys to play jpgs as videos. Any ides how to change that? Currently I have to save the picture to the SD card and go view it from there.

Help me, help me, I've rooted and I can't get up...

I've noticed the same thing with the stock messaging app (not sure how/if it can be fixed), however I downloaded the app called "Handcent_SMS" and it seems to operate as it should. There is no play button on received pictures and the pictures seems to open up just fine.

EDIT: Also if you have Launcher Pro, you can configure the messaging icon in the dock bar so that once it is pressed, Handcent will open up.

This happens to me as well.
I don't believe it's set to play as a video, it appears to be a slideshow.

I had the same issue (except i don't even get the option to play, it just says 'downloading.." but it never does). I'm not rooted. It made no difference whether I was on Wifi or on 3G. However, when I downloaded handcent, it still didn't work until, voila....wifi off, the picture messages came a flowing.

Any thoughts from all the great fascinate minds on why this is?

I'd prefer to use messenger (if there is a remedy for this ridiculous issue).

im in the same boat as well. would definitely like to keep using messenger but if this cant be fixed, id probably switch
