I don't recall seeing this before the update. Can someone who had not gotten it yet check? Is this new?

It was there when I first got my phone. Not new.

Mine won't check that. It tells me I need to connect to a computer.

Not new. This is so you can use your phone as a modem for a laptop (tethering). I beleive theres some sort of monthly fee to do that as well. I also beleive there is a app on the market that does the same thing, but you may or may not incur additional fees or the wrath of verizon lol.
