I have a 6-month Galaxy A41.

The phone software updated yesterday and since then, I don't have any internet connection whenever I use mobile data (either on Chrome, Playstore or anywhere - nothing works). Network is Vodafone.

I tried:

- Rebooting the phone.
- Removing the SIM card and trying another slot (phone has 2 SIM slots).
- Resetting Network settings.
- Reconfiguring Network settings (both manually and automatic detection).
- Reconfiguring APN settings.
- Lastly - both soft and hard-resetting the phone.

None of these fixes the issue.

I tried the SIM card on my back-up phone (LG G7) and it immediately works there - which means it's phone-related and not a SIM-card issue.

Any tips? My Galaxy A41 is almost unusable because of this and I am quite desperate.

Thank you.

Did you get this phone from Vodafone, or was it from a different carrier (or fully unlocked and carrier agnostic)?

Unlocked, from Carphone Warehouse (official UK retailer). Phone was working flawlessly until yesterday when the software updated.

How's phone calls and messages?

Both calls and messages working just fine.

Anyway, I actually managed to get it fixed - swapped my gf's SIM card into mine (we both have the same models), which worked, then put my SIM card again into it - and that finally also worked. It seems to have reset something, which none of the other options above had done. Very weird.

Fingers crossed it's not temporary - will report if the connection gets lost again.

Something with VPN or in the network settings probably changed during the update. Odd the other SIM got it working but hopefully it keeps working.

Maybe try calling Vodafone and see if they have to reprovision the phone or something?

Thanks, but the SIM is working just fine on my back-up phone.

There shouldn't be a need for me to go through the hassle considering I am using a pre-paid card and the phone is also unlocked. I bought the phone from Carphone Warehouse, SIM free and unlocked (paid full price for it). It's completely independent from Vodafone - they are only my network carrier, on which I am using the SIM-card.

From Vodafone's perspective, they can only provide a new SIM-card, they can't fix the phone, which was bought elsewhere.

Sometimes switch sims in different phones can cause issues like this , call your service provider let them refresh the system to the imei of the phone you want to use with that number

I now found what the issue is and fixed it.

The network's default APN settings only show 1 option:

Vodafone UK Data (wap.vodafone.co.uk).

Resetting the APN settings and not choosing that default setting, causes 1 additional option to appear, which has the exact same name as the above. However, choosing that one instead fixes the mobile data connectivity issue.

Can someone explain what the issue could've been?

It must've come with the software update, as before that choosing the default Vodafone APN setting worked without any problems. I never had to play with the settings to find additional APN options, etc.

Anytime you see more then 1 APN on the list sometimes have to try each see what works , i had to do that on my phone traveling Europe, in the US one APN and usually dont have to mess with it unless its one those subsidized company by major carriers then you have to mess with that .
