Mobile data problems

I've been experiencing a problem: when I'm using wifi and I get out of range, mobile data should connect automatically, but it doesn't happen sometimes. There are no green arrows below the 4G or H(+) icon. Then I have to restart the device to use mobile data (turning on then off airplane mode or mobile data can't fix the problem).
Anyone with the same issue?

What carrier do you have? Wouldn't be T-Mobile by any chance?

Hi,

I having a same problem, using Samsung Note 3, and my friend using Samsung galaxy S4. I live in Malaysia using Maxis mobile network. Do you solved this issue?

Thanks
Seon

Can you check how many APNs you have listed on your phone? Mobile Networks -> Acces point names

Same here,

Doesn't happen all the time but I'd say at least once a week I have to pull the battery to get mobile data to connect again!

Hoping the kitkat update will cure it though, fingers corssed!

There are 2 listed:
Vivo Internet
Vivo MMS2
If you want, you could try something to see if it is the same thing that was happening to me, worth a shot compared to a full wipe. Write down on a piece of paper all the details for vivo MMS2, like the username, password, address, protocol, etc etc. Then delete the apn (MMS2) and re-select vivo internet. Let it run a few hours/days, I know, you will probably not be able to send MMS (multimedia only, SMS will work fine), but you will have data.

The reason is, when I had my galaxy s2, I had two APNs, one for data and one for MMS. The phone would randomly switch the default to the MMS one and not revert it back to the data one, and I would be out of data for the rest of the day until I realized so. At first I would restart the phone like you, but then figured it was the phone playing around with the APNs. I deleted the MMS one and it never had that problem again. It seems like the phone just picks the wrong APN when returning to cell data mode (from wifi or a dropped signal) and thus leaves you without data. Luckily for me, the at&t apns for data and mms can be merged into one. I don't know if the vivo ones can be merged.

I've been thinking about this issue too, it sometimes happens to my Samsun Galaxy Nexus. I'm fairly sure you can get data monitoring applications to see what data is (or isn't) being transferred.
