Mobile data uses H+ instead of 4G.

I moved from S7E to LG G7 here in the UK.

However, I noticed that when mobile data is switched on, H+ usage is always on, instead of 4G.

On the Samsung before, it always switched to 4G.

Any idea whether this is normal? I am talking about accessing mobile data from the same location on both devices and using the same SIM card.

Thank you.

Most likely on how the device showed the connection. Some regions take H+ as 4G so maybe the display is different between those phones. Have you compared with a speedtest?

Speedtest checks 3.66 Mbps download speed when on H+/3G and 14 Mbps when I manually connect the phone to a Vodafone 4G network.

However, on my old S7E, the phone connected to 4G without me having to do anything...

On GSMarena, S7E has numerous 4G bands support, while the G7 says only 4G LTE.

Maybe that's the issue?

Ah, then probably if it IS connecting to a different network (in which case then conditions aren't the same). If you can force the use of a specific network and avoid charges, then just do that (manually configure network preferences). If that's the issue, then the preferred network, which probably your G7 didn't support, is just HSPA+.
