Mobile nations and pop-up ads

Lately, when visiting android central or imore on mobile, I have been getting pop-up ads that take me to websites of the phishing variety (your Android is infected, games, you are a winner, etc.).

This happens only on mobile nations sites, none of my other favorites or when I am looking for information and browsing... So I don't think it is my phone.

I have been a user of mobile nations since my Palm Pre days. I have owned MANY... MANY gadgets. And I have used these websites as basically my only consistent source for Android/iOS/windows news for going on 4 years...
And I am about done with it.

Let's not best around the bush, mobile nations sites are terrible! Full site or mobile it doesn't matter. The number of ads on these sites could generate enough to wipe out the national debt. I love Android central but who ever was hired to do these sites need to be fired and their money returned. I browse imore and Android central very often on my iPad and it is a bear to navigate around the forums, especially with ad that scrolls up from the bottom. There is so much good information here but the site is eventually going to start driving people away.

I can deal with the ridiculously heavy ads in the page... Gotta pay the bills. But when pop-ups take me away from the browsing experience or tell me "your Android is infected", I draw the line.

Pop ups drive users away and produce little income over all. I never visit via http. All their sites load. WAY too slowly and contain way to many offsite links.

@jrsharp70 - if you can give us details of your device, OS, and browser along with some screenshots it would be tremendously appreciated... My email is listed below, you can send to me direct.

Thanks!!

Of course. I'm on a stock note 4 using the stock browser with pop up blocking on.

With the AC app installed, I get way fewer pop-ups because whenever I open a page in the browser it asks me what I want to open with, and the pop-ups get blocked (because it asks me twice and doesn't take me to the ad).

But I jaunted over to imore and got this one.

I scrapbooked it and it says the page is www.big-giveaways.co

I can get more from my tablet when I get to it, since I don't have the AC app on it.
