Just wanted to touch base with you guys and bring you up to speed on a few things. A few people have asked about if they will get their discounts on their cell phone plan with these new plans. Well i have gone through a few things over and asked a few highers and tentativaly found an answer.

The discount will come off of the base price for your new plan. So for instance the 1gb plan is $40 and each smartphone is $45 thereafter. 4gb is $70 and each smartphone is $40 thereafter. 6gb is $90 and each smartphone is $35 thereafter. So on and so forth. So your discounts will come off of the $40, $70, $90 . Not off of the smartphone charges. So here are some numbers i put together to give examples.

First plan: 4gb share plan with 3 smartphones and a 20% discount

Main charge: $70 (discount of $14) = $56
3 smartphones ($40 each) = $120

$176 a month

Second plan: 6gb share plan with 3 smartphones and a 20% discount

Main charge: $90 (discount of $18) = $72
3 smartphones ($35 each) = $105

$177 a month

So with this you would get 2 more gigs per month to share for only $1 more. Sounds pretty good to me.

Now remind you this is still all tentative, but i have promised a few to keep you guys updated. If anything changes i will post here again.

Awesome thanks. I'd be 49 (30% off $70) + 80 for 2 smartphones @ 4gb = $129

And I get tethering! w00t!

Att needs to account for phones without any data use at all. I have a family plan with 2 dumbphones that are only used for calls. Tripling the monthly charge for those is ridiculous.

Att is not going to force you on these plans. Or get rid of the plans you have. These will be optionally plans as of right now.

What about new customers?

I'm sure they will be ending the grandfathered unlimited plans eventually though like Verizon is doing.

The current plans will still be available for new customers as well. And so far there are no plans to end the grandfathered rates.

I am curious to why you use sprint over at&t. I have been on sprint for the past 13 years and thinking of going to at&t. I live in the raleigh north carolina area. Thank you for your help

At my house specifically att has no service. And when I started with sprint. Att did not have the micro cell at all. Just have never switched.

For us it would be $150 before fees/taxes. We're averaging $148 now including fees/taxes and never come close to the data cap....

Checked the att premier website and the discounts are applied on the base price (confirming the what the OP said).

Where do you live that ATT doesnt have service at your house? I see in your profile it says Elgin, IL. Is att service that bad all over? How about Illinois/ Chicago in general? How is in building coverage?

I am in the NW Burbs area of Chicago and thinking of switching from Verizon to ATT. Verizon service isnt all its cracked up to be and I am wondering if att is better. I have a Maxx with Verizon, what do you recommend for att?

For the most part everywhere else now that i go there is plenty coverage. Except at my house. I looked at xoverage maps. And i am littetally in the middle of a few block dead zone

You're having trouble with Verizon? AT&T was awful for me several years ago so I switched and never looked back. Horrible customer service mixed with sub par signal ans comparable prices made AT&T a clear loser. I have excellent service, customer service, and even pricing from Verizon. I have never had a problem at home in Romeoville, IL and anywhere I've gone.

Good luck with the switch if you decide to do it.

I still say bull I've rooted and no way in hell am I giving up unlimited data I will go as far as to try and shove the at&t reps head through the computer screen and rip out the hard drive in a rage as I'm tazed and restrained by customers and police
I never have to use the teather I am on one line atm but that could change soon I refuse to pay over 150 for 2 lines you can forget it I had 3 and paid over 320 never again i"I'll put one back on for my mother not my sister she don't like to pay her part of the bill
