I've been thinking about this topic recently, and the article from Phil Nickinson.
Samsung announces its latest security update — the question is when you'll see it | Android Central

Just checked my Verizon Note 5, and it shows that it's on the 2015-11-01 "Android security patch level". It's now mid-February, and no further updates from Samsung/Verizon. I wonder if the updates have not been pushed out given that a Marshmallow update is around the corner; or have Samsung and Verizon (in my case), already fallen behind?

Is anyone getting the monthly security updates from Samsung/your carrier?

I thought it was due to the fact that I have AT&T updates disabled in Package Disabler Pro but I've re-enabled it a couple times just out of curiosity and nope, no updates.

Verizon Note 5.....December 15th. I got an update in October, nothing in November, then December 15th. Nothing for January.

Scratch that post .. 11/15 is the security level .. nothing sense then .. and my moto x pure is the with me to see when it updated last

Does Verizon hire a single intern to test and deploy updates for all phones, or something? If I took that long to do the one thing I was hired for, I'd be out of a job for sure.

Thanks all, so far it sounds like for the US carriers that T-Mobile has the most current updates, while AT&T and Verizon are lagging behind.

Received an update yesterday for the Verizon Note 5. With that and last month's Marshmallow update, looks like Samsung is keeping up with the montly security updates.

I too got security updates with the Verizon Note 5 Samsung update of yesterday.

My Verizon Note 5 is now on the April 2 security update. Pretty impressive for them to push it out that fast. I like the new Android updating screen (which I think we got work 6.0). The old one was starting to look dated.
