More Bionic pictures... closeups of the screen

Since we are mostly looking at white backgrounds, not much to look at on the screen to see how good the pentile is. If it's anything like the X2 or D3, then it's fine for me at least. Not sure about everyone else, but they seemed bright and clear when holding it at a good distance away from my face, about where I'd normally use it.
But anyways...I like to see that kind of battery saving! lol. 10% for 3 hours of idling? That's damn good for an LTE device. Still, can't tell what it was doing while idling, but even if it's just doing less often data pulling, got to be pretty good on the battery if it's lasting that long. And he is on LTE, not 3G so if you need even more battery, just turn off the LTE radio and this thing will run for a very VERY long time. I know for the first few weeks or so, (hopefully not months) I'll keep it off since they haven't put LTE in here in SB yet. Should have it this fall though right? We're a pretty popular area with a lot of people that will buy 4G phones this fall and winter...because everyone here is rich. I, on the other hand, will be scraping the barrel getting this phone and the plan lol.
I'm loving that 32GB of space right out of the box! Also, why do all these people have crappy 4G reception lol? Are they in their basement, trying to hide from Motorola for leaking the phone? :p

Has anyone noticed that everyone over at Droid-Life is SUPER biased? The author of the articles, he has made his followers all hate Pentiles and all this other crap, and I don't think they really even understand it. I know, some people have problems with the pentile, but everyone's going ballistic over there just hating on the Bionic for stuff they probably don't even understand...

YES, I have noticed that too - the screen looks fine IMHO. For me, I like the more natural looking colors...the SA+ screens are too saturated for me; yes, the colors jump out at you, but they are not realistic in my eyes. Just my .02.

I don't mind SA+ screens either, but yes, Kellex fanboys are hilarious. Just like lemmings...

Whats real funny about Pentile is it wasnt all this hate for it last year. And the GS1 was in the U.S. since June. Pentile screen n all. The Incredible too.

I believe it a hate Motorola thing.

The screen looks awful. These pictures may actually sway me to not by the phone. Look at any green straight line. Just a disgusting screen.

Sigh.

Whats really funny is that you don't understand what you're talking about. Motorola uses a new type of pentile layout. They're using RGBW whereas the GS and N1 used a RGBG layout. They're very different.

The RGBG at least has straight lines of green pixels (the most visibile to us) so that not everything looks horrible. Plus, there was a TON of hate for the pentile in the first place. So much so, that samsung's new SAMOLED+ has RGB stripe (normal) as a selling feature and people raved about it (I have one, it's much improved in the pixel department.)

These look promising. Still gonna wait to see the screen for myself before pulling the trigger on this bad boy. Plus, we should hear a lot more from Samsung and HTC over the next week. Barring very promising news on the SG2, I'm probably going to get the Bionic. Coming from the Dinc and HTC's ****ty antennas, I will probably stay away from the Vigor. Now, where are all the Prime leaks?!?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't there too many unknown variables here to pass judgement? What was used to capture the screen shot? What image quality was the shot saved in? What image quality was the shot uploaded in? What resolution is your monitor?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not defending the phone. Screen quality is at the top of my priority list. I will go to a Verizon store and see if I like the Bionic's screen for myself before pulling the trigger.

EXACTLY! How many times is this enlarged? There is a thread dedicated to the Pentile vs SA+ screen debate...let's keep it over there and not ruin another thread.

To be fair, RGBG (as opposed to RGBW) pentile displays are not nearly as bright and use up much more battery. Most people who aren't on the anti-Moto pentile charge tend to consider RGBW pentile an upgrade over RGBG pentile. But this has been rehashed about 3434784 times here

I don't want to drag on the penTile discussion here so just go play with a Droid X2 in a Verizon Store if you're unsure. It's going to be the same.exact.screen. 4.3 qHD 540x960 PenTile. If that screen doesn't tickle your fancy, you'll have your answer.

Not enlarged at all. Thats the original photo.

You can see the issues in the color borders regardless of the artifacts left from resizing.

Also, I've owned an Atrix, with the same RGBW pentile with a smaller pixel pitch. It was a garbage screen. Far less impressive than the SAMOLED (non plus) screens IMO.

That's exactly what I did. I didn't see any problems with it since I wasn't putting the damn thing ON my face. How can people read like that?

A picture of a screen is never going to look good, even on the best of screens. Maybe if you have a really amazing camera, but obviously this guy does not. Plus, you really don't see that in the picture unless you enlarge it and crop it. Seriously, the human eye can't really perceive this sort of thing unless it's really close to it.

The phone looks amazing, the screen isn't super terrible, it's not oversaturated like the GSII, but not washed out because of the pentile. When it comes to a 4G phone, I'd take slightly worse screen (that I really won't even notice the difference) for better battery life. Battery life is a big factor in me buying a phone, as I would like to use my phone as a backup when I actually need it.

I'm talking about this picture thats 1/3 the size of the screen, isn't this enlarged?

Hi.

Don't buy the Bionic then. There's threads devoted to this. We don't need to rehash it an another thread.

I suggest you check out the Rumored Devices forum re: the Prime or the Samsung Galaxy GS2 Function forum if you dislike this screen.

I'm not sure you're comparing a proper photo. The resolution on a website is very low compared to seeing it "in-person". All publishers on the web use lower resolutions for load time.

Let's wait and see the screen in person before we judge the capability of the camera that took the photo, and the website replicating it to save space. We're getting close enough that we can soon see it without all this bashing. Let's just wait and see for ourselves.

Yes, but Samsung's new SAMOLED HD displays are going to be Pentile RGBG again. It was the only way that they could get the 720P resolution - and they could still only do it at 4.5" or larger.

EDIT: This means the Nexus Prime will be SAMOLED HD Pentile RGBG layout...

Really? I've used an Atrix and I love the clarity of the screen. I'm not a huge fan of SAMOLED screens, the colors are overblown and not natural at all.

Brothers, we can divide on a screen or come together on an OS? Samoleds are the sickest screens out, while qHD looks nice too. I don't think one or the other is going to make a horrible phone you know?

All these phones are better than owning an iPhone :p. Although, an iPhone may have a great screen, everything else is terrible compared to what's on this bad boy here named the Bionic. Apple can't tell me how to hold my phone.

I agree. The qHD screens I have seen pop. They are super gorgeous in real life. The Samoleds are all pentile as well. In real world applications, these phones have amazing screens. The iPhone does trump them, but having a superior screen is a bit down on my list of must haves friend. The bionic will be the first super phone on VZW LTE, that is way more interesting.
