We all know nothing is ever really confirmed, but I talked to an HTC rep at the Boomsound pop-up here in LA. The phone is amazing by the way. He told me ATT will definitely have a black 64gb at launch. He also told me the T-Mobile launch is a day before on the 18th. Lastly, he told me the kickstand case will be available in 3 color combos as well.

I'm just relaying... Don't shoot the messenger! Ha.

I'm skeptical of the black arriving at launch. Its been all too quite and carriers/stores have halted pre-orders of the black variants. Who knows, maybe it'll just be black 64GB at launch like you said, with very limited stock and online only.

I'd love for t-mobile to get it a day before. We will see.

How can an employee of an outside carrier know what other carriers are doing? You speak to an employee in person and they barely know what's going on in their own place of employment.

Yeah, he seemed pretty confident, but who knows. I asked to see his HTC One, so I could feel the weight without it being locked down to the contraption thing. I gotta say it's heavier than I thought! I'm coming from an HTC Vivid, and it didn't seem to much lighter. Anyway, I noticed his One didn't have a SIM card. He said he's on T-Mobile, himself, so he's been carrying it around SIM-less for 5 months!? But, seeing that he's on T-Mo, I figured he could be right about the 18th date.

Hey OP, if you have a chance to stop by the Boomsound lounge again, do you mind asking about the black unlocked 32/64 GB availability. I live in an area where HTC hasn't set up anything, thanks

T - Mobile version doesn't use sim card? I'm quite a noob on the topic, so... Why no Sim card? Do other carriers will have it sim-less also?

Yeah, I'll ask if I get up there again. No, he just wouldn't be able to get full functionality on T-Mo because it was obviously not a T-Mo version of the One. Although, I don't know why he wouldn't use it on T-Mo anyway? Wouldn't it still work, just without LTE? I'm not sure what version it was...

All GSM carriers use "sim cards" T-Mobile, AT&T... CDMA doesn't use SIM cards.. Unless its a world phone like the HTC One and DNA on Verizon

Whoever said they aren't using a SIM card on T-Mobile shouldn't be working at T-Mobile

At the BoomSound Lounge I went to, I spoke with an HTC rep who dealt with carriers before, so if the same thing held true here, I think we can assume the guy had some credibility. That said, I'm skeptical about T-Mobile launching on the 18th, though it certainly would be fantastic. The bit about the black model sounds reasonable, though it might also be based on various press releases. I seem to recall reading that preorders were all going to be silver, with black models available on launch day.

We'll have to wait to see how this all plays out!

Verizon uses sim cards now for LTE devices. Sprint probably does too. Not on them to confirm. But I agree with you about the other stuff. Using t-mobile without a sim? Yeah right.

The only thing he could have been doing is using it as a wifi device.

Agreed. It probably is just carrying the device around. It doesn't appear he said he's currently using it on t-mobile. But I would wonder why he wouldn't be though.

I thought the SIM cards was only used to get LTE.. Not to activate the phone on Sprint network.
