More on Batteries

I am getting 1/2 a day on a battery. I have spares so I don't have a big problem but still.
My battery stats are:
Cell Standby 34%
Phone Idle 32%
Android system 18% Others less than 6%
The Beyondpod podcaster that I have on all 1/2 day is only at 2%

So why is the Cell standby and Idle taking up so much battery?
I have 4 bars and 3G where I work

I take phone off charger at 4:00 am, It's out of battery by 12:00-2:00 pm.
I have 4 batteries, the stock 1300mha, and three 1500mha. I am getting 8 to 10 hours. I guess that isn't so bad.
