More people in the same sms/text message

Just switched from ios to Android. Need help to figure out if it's possible to have a group sms/text message (not Messenger, Hangout or other) ? I can send the same text to multiple contacts, but their answers come in separate texts.... What's wrong. Was using the text-group function a lot on ios.

Which phone?
Which version of android?
Which carrier?
Which SMS app?

Assuming your SMS app does group texts, you will find the settings in the app. The settings you are looking for are "group vs bulk single" and "send long messages as MMS"

I've got a oneplus 3T with nougat 7.0
There was a preinstalled sms app on the iPhone which i'm using. It's called message I presume (it's in Danish)
