I wanted to update this thread from previous ones and pick your brains.

I have a rooted evo 4g, stock rom, etc....it has about 80mb left and I have a 32gb card in it.

I was wondering, for about a week I had over 150mb left on it, all similar programs etc. I tried to look at what was eating up the space on the phone, mostly contacts, beautiful widgets etc. I dont like HTC sense, so I dont use it....I love the go launcher, seems to work well with the phone....should I get rid of beautiful widgets?

I got rid of the facebook apk, that was a huge waster...put on 3DF black, it seems to be better.

Any help would be appreciated. What is normal for this phone. Right now I have 39 apps on the phone, a few games...most are on my sd card.

also, what does the over-clocking widget really do?
lol

I would move email (not app itself, the actual email data) to the sd card to save space (some email apps have this feature).

There was something a while back about contacts file growing over time. You might research and try to clean up / compress file size.

Delete old apps that you are not using. And go through and delete cache and data on apps you use infrequently.

Yeah I go through almost daily and remove stuff, and even clean out my gmail, but I am at about 93mb now...I got rid of beautiful widgets, although I loved it...replaced with a clock...not the same :(
I use go launcher, that eats up alot of stuff....

Can I delete my contacts and reload them through google? I also use youmail for my voicemail and the contact list there was huge....I tried re-installing and using only a little..but i dont know

Coach, have you considered partitioning your 32g micro sdcard to expand your internal space. You should have a lot of space available on the card.

If this is not an option, then you might consider backing up your current phone (nandroid and titanium backup of apps/data). You might want to look over all files, etc. on the phone to delete any old app files etc that have remained -- no longer used.

Then install a clean version of the rom, and only add apps you use. Titanium backup can restore data/apps.

Coach, yes you can delete contacts on the phone and then sync using google to have them downloaded. Be advised that if you have contacts that are only on the phone...then they will be gone.

I recommend using a software like "myphoneexplorer" to sync your phone with computer. You can sync, then manage the contact list on your computer, then push this to the phone. You are done.

This may not buy you much space but it will clean up contacts.

Start over, Format your sd card with an extended partition and install mikg rom. A2sd is cooked in. With the default size of 512 I've still got lots of room and an awesome running phone. 67 apps with 258mb free.

I am leary about installing new roms, thats my only hang up. I guess I have to get overmyself and give it a go.

I've had my phone for 2 years. Rooted 1 week after I got it. Ran stock for a year then flashed Mikg. If you follow the instructions for formating your sd card and flash the rom not much chance of anything going wrong. It's a very stable rom with tons of features.

good place to start would be to wipe dalvic cache (titanium backup>settings>more>clean up dalvic cache) then clean cache with cache cleaner (cache cleaner NG) is what i use.... be surprised how much this will free up in rom and memory... after this start slowly deleting unwanted apps, ect., again use titanuim backup and freeze instead of uninstalling initially, after a few days if you notice no ill side affects then uninstall.

I agree with the others partition your sd card and use dark tremors a2sd script.
If you don't like sense remove the apks. Back up system Apps using either titanium or Rom toolbox app manager, just in case.
Then go into the system folder. Place go launcher in there and then delete Rosie.apk and all HTC Widgets! Keep Beautiful Widgets if you like it.
Or else I suggest using a rom like alteredRom redux by grayn0de or SOS by swagstr. They have good senseless options and dta2sd function baked in as well.
