Question Most of my apps updated at once?

Went to bed last night with a fully updated phone and yet this morning had 48 apps waiting to be updated! What gives?

Has there been some sort of emergency security fix which needed all those apps to be rebuilt and updated asap?

Not a dev myself, but my first thought would be if the minimum API changed, if that triggers an app update?

Would such a thing not trigger mass updates for most (all?) users? I can find no evidence online of such a thing happening to other people. Unless everyone but me does not find it an unusual occurrence worth remarking on?

Which phone?

When you say that you went to bed with a fully updated phone, do you mean that you had gone to the Play Store and manually checked for updates? (Sometimes it'll say that it's up to date when you first open it, but then if you manually check, it'll show a bunch of apps with updates available.)

It is an S25FE. Yes, I always double/triple check for updates after opening Google Play.

I wonder if there might have been something specific to Samsung devices (like some update to a Samsung system component) that led to small updates for all of those apps. Do you remember if all of those 48 updates were pretty small, or were there some pretty sizeable ones?

TBH I was still pretty dopey after an early morning alarm and was just checking there were no messages needing urgent attention when I saw the updates notification so I just let it go ahead without stopping to think about it.

For me, no. I think the most I had was 30, and I just updated. Never crossed my mind to wonder why so many.
