My 2022 Moto G Power spent almost 2 weeks in the gutter buried in snow. It stopped working after the first 4 days in the gutter. Battery probably depleted beyond recovery. Gets very slightly warm on charger overnight. Screen smashed at upper right. Lenses on back also destroyed. Not recognized by laptop.
I want to swap motherboards to recover files. Walmart has surprisingly cheap Straight Talk Moto G 64G phones for $25.
Any compatibility problems between '22 and late model? Compatibility between Power, Stylus, 64G, etc.?

Welcome to AC!
Most users here don't swap motherboards between devices You can probably check XDA Forums but I wouldn't see many there doing this also.

I'd just go with the new Moto G and call it a day. Even if the boards and all components are compatible (most likely not) you'd need to separate the phone from the screen and probably even the board without damage.

I honestly think the time you spend trying to do all the swapping just isn't worth it.

Already have a working replacement (Samsung Galaxy) but I need the files on the old phone.

If the files are very important maybe look into a data recovery service. Very expand no guarantee you'll get satisfactory results. Don't bother with online services or apps. Might as well write me a cheque.

Just replaced screen. Went fairly smooth, but removing battery to access ribbon cables was annoying. Verified that I have 3.85 V on the board near the battery so the battery appears good.

Held power button in for more than 30 seconds. No response. Even if the brightness is all the way down I should have heard something.

I never asked to have the phone remotely locked. If that happened anyway, what would I see? Maybe I would not see boot screen, but how about the charging screen?

One other repair I made was to the back cover. It was cracked at the upper right edge. The copper path on the inside was broken. I welded the plastic and bridged the copper break with solder. Tight joint allowed me to carve the solder lump flat for clearance. The copper path might be antenna or cover-missing sensor.
