Motion Photo looks great . . . then half of the still image goes gray.

Sprint Galaxy S7. I have a motion photo that I took of my son and a minor league baseball player friend of his. The thumbnail image looks great. When I click to view the full size image on my phone, it too looks good for about a second, then exactly half of the image goes gray.

When I view the motion photo it too looks good all the way through until it ends. Then, a second later, half the image goes gray exactly as before.

I've tried multiple viewers with the same result. I moved it to my Windows PC and tried to view it. Depending on the application it either opens half gray as a still photo or won't open at all.

I can freeze the motion photo and capture a screenshot, but the quality isn't as good as the photo would be. So far I haven't been able to find any mention of this specific problem online - seen some references to photos being corrupted and showing half gray or black, but not motion photos.

Any suggestions? Your assistance is appreciated.

Not sure what you mean by a "motion photo". Maybe an animated GIF?

Any chance you can link us to an example photo so that we can see what you are seeing?

The Samsung Camera app has a feature called Motion Photo, which records a brief video clip of what happens a few seconds before the photo is taken. I think that Apple calls this feature Live Photos.
