With all due respect to Moto 360, their premise that the only way to get a round screen and a thin bezel was to make the "flat Tyre" (which I don't object to) is only true for a completely circular case.

Many many watches have a round face, with round sides and squared off tops where the bands attach, with the right band continuing that look they can look very very stylish. I know I have one on my wrist right now. The top and bottom of the case typical become a little concave to commence the "wrap around the wrist" possess.

I've mocked up my concept using the same diagrams Moto's engineers used. I'm not artist and I only had access to slide presentation software to make it so go easy on the quality of the graphics. the watch would still be thin across the writs and just extend further around the wrist, perhaps the screen could be a few mm smaller?

I'm hoping for a Qi charging, AMOLED, light sensor containing, modern optimized processor android wear version of this.

So basically the G Watch R with a thinner circle. I could see that making a nice watch, but I think they really wanted the whole body to be round. It's a design decision that has its pros and cons. It'd be nice to see someone make something along the lines of what you propose.

LG G Watch R for reference:

It has been explained time and time again there are sensors in the "flat tyre". However I think the sensor could had been at in part of the bezel, but then people would complain that the bezel was not completely round. I may still get the GWatch R but it has to look better in person cause I'm really looking my 360. One thing for sure is all the 1st gen watches will make for great 2nd Gen. The complete circle makes it nice and unique and so I don't mind the small sacrifice of sensors. I do like your concept however.

From my watching of Motos presentation the little flat bar at the lower portion of each screen/ watch represented the light sensor so its in the draft design.

My main point was the the options weren't binary as they were presenting them to be.

Its not either you have a large all round bezel (their mock up, the GWatchR) or you have a flat Tyre to achieve a round display there are other design decisions.

I don't object to the flat Tyre especially with a well designed black watch face (I'll most likely get one, if I ever can) I just think the presentation of their argument was incorrect.

For some reason I felt like they were treating us like we were children with the its this or this attitude and I was inspired to draw :)

I love the design that they went with...no bezel make this phone the top of the mountain... I love this watch!

Whatever problems the 360 has, I've never thought the bezel was one of them.

Why is the light sensor so big? It's not that size on my phone (as far as I can tell).

I think they just really were set on it being perfectly circular, bezel included.
Agreed, I think that was their design philosophy for the Moto 360. And they wanted to make it as small as possible for a given display size. Duncan's design above is simply a bigger watch.
