Moto Display is too fast?

I got a Moto G for my dad as his first smartphone and noticed that Moto Display only lights up for about 2 seconds. A lot of times, it's too quick for him to tap or unlock.

On my 2013 Moto X, Moto Display would light up for 5-6 seconds.

Is there a way to change a setting to increase the time on screen?

Just tried it. Didn't make a difference.
