Moto Display not working while driving in car

I have a Moto X PE with 6.0. Moto display will not work when driving in my car. I have it in a vent holder with no obstructions to all the sensors. I wave my hand in front, and nothing happens. When I'm outside the car, it works perfectly. I do have Auto assist turned on. Not sure what it could be. I'll also mention that it did work well before 6.0.

Do you guys have any idea?

have you perhaps tried sitting the phone on the passenger seat and seeing if it works? it might have something to do with the vent holder?? Mines works on 6.0 in my car, almost too much if anything. I keep looking down at my phone and the moto display is on.

Good idea! I'll try that later today and report back. It's just odd that it worked fine before 6.0 in the same vent holder.

Yeah that is a bit strange - I do know that 6.0 came with sensor improvements for Moto Display so maybe it thinks the device is constantly moving or something. Let me know if it works on the seat :)

My MXPE is stock with MM 6.0.
The Moto display wakes if I nudge or move the phone.
I would imagine any movement in the Car, no matter phone location, would wake the Moto display.

I agree with this answer. When in my car dock, while moving, moto display practically "breaths" like it does when there is a notification. When the vehicle is still it doesn't have the same behavior.

I use my Moto X on a vent holder and have had no issues waving my hand to show Moto Display.

Update:
I tried placing it on the passenger seat, but it still did not activate when waiving my hand over it. I was using Nova, so I switched back to GNow and it didn't help. It could be the tempered screen protector that I have on it. It covers the 2 sensors on the bottom but doesn't cover the top. I'm also using a cheap 'spider' flexible holder I got for a couple bucks off of Amazon, which may have something to do with it. I'll report back if anything changes. Ugh!

Update. It happens only when connected to the cars bluetooth. When connected, waiving my hand in front of the sensors does not activate the Moto display. When I disconnect it, it works fine. Have any of you had this issue?
