moto g won't save contacts

I can't find anything that will explain this, basically I'll add a contact to my phone, give it a minute then the contacts gone after that and I'm just back with the number in my text app, in this case hangouts, if anyone has an answer to this cause its really odd, thanks for reading!

I've had some luck with creating contacts in Messenger by tapping on the person's icon, then selecting add contact >> create new contact, filling out the info and then at the very top (by default, mine wants to save to both Outlook and Gmail), selecting save to my Gmail address only.

It's been several hours now and I rebooted my phone earlier.

Nothing else that I've tried has lasted this long.

Mine too in my moto g5s plus, the new contacts are not saved and the sync is on though for contacts

Welcome to the forums. When you add a contact, what do you have selected as 'Saving to'?

Please go to Settings---Apps----Contacts ----- Permission-----Then select Storage
