AC Question

My moto G5 plus started shutting off randomly today and when I looked into it a little further it turns out the battery suddenly drained from ~70% down to nothing. I rebooted and then the phone went in to shut down mode immediately and turned off again. I charged the phone for an hour on the turbo charger and it charged up to 53% and stayed at that amount so I unplugged it. 20 minutes later the phone jumped to 0 powered off then when I rebooted it had 98% battery. What is going on here.

It could be false reporting by a bad battery. Does it persist in Safe Mode?

'm in safe mode now and the battery is draining very fast went from 75% to 40% inside of 10 minutes and battery info in android says screen 1% so it doesn't make sense

Okay. In the battery usage graph, are there any sudden vertical drops, or are they just steep downward inclines?

I tried to post a screenshot in my original post but they were sudden vertical drops. Then I would power on again it would say I have plenty of battery left then after 10-15 min another sudden vertical drop. I did a factory reset of the phone and now it is more of a gradual dowward decline but from a full charge it reports only able to run for 2 hours which is absolutely terrible for this phone as it used to last for 10+ hours

I'm thinking it's most likely to be a bad battery. The nearest thing from my own experience was with a Lumia 1020, which would indicate heavy battery drain for no apparent reason. Even if fully charged, it might suddenly show low battery, then full battery after rebooting. In that case I fixed it by uninstalling a couple of apps that I thought might be giving trouble, which is why I mentioned Safe Mode earlier.
I'll move the thread to the Moto G5 Plus forum for comments from other users.
Also, welcome as a new member. :)

I booted into bootloader and went to the factory section and it says "battery ok" in green. Another thing I noticed is that from 100% to dead then reboot is roughly half an hour. When it reboots it has roughly 9% less than the previous time the phone thought it was dead. Just a pattern I noticed
