Moto G5s, battery issues out of the box.

I recently had a Moto G5s plus shipped to me, out of the box it is having issues with charging, I have not turned on the phone yet due to this, as it says to charge it fully before doing so. When plugged in, the battery level starts at 99%, and slowly goes down, I checked on it every few minutes while charging, and it went as low as 50%. Is this a known issue, and is there a way to fix it, or should I try getting a replacement?

I have been using my Moto G5S Plus for a handful of weeks and haven't had any problems with the battery, and that's with background sync for several accounts and actively using 3 different chat apps. It sounds like you have a faulty battery and/or charging circuitry. It sounds like a candidate for replacement to me.
