Moto G7 Play, Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 or something else?

Looking for a good budget phone to replace my Moto G4 which is getting on a bit. The Note 5 looks good as it's affordable and has great battery life, but the G7 Play is slimmer and more powerful, plus the water repulsive coating(I dropped my G4 in a toilet a year or so back and it's been a bit glitchy since). I was looking at the G6 Play initially but it seems like the Redmi Note 5 is more or less the same thing(big battery etc.) with a better camera and processor.

Battery Life is a fairly big concern for me but I do have a portable battery, so as long as it's marginally better than the G4 I'll probably get along - but the Note 5's 4000mah sounds really appealing as does the extra gig of ram. I'm just worried that the size and weight might be cumbersome.

Are there any other suggestions?

I would say the G7 Play. Just my personal opinion. It's always tough to answer these questions, because it's a personal choice abs we all have different opinions on which phones are nicer / better, etc. But I'm a big fan of the near stock Android on Moto phones, with the added benefit of the Moto App. Good luck with whatever you decide to buy.

The main issue is the battery life on the Redmi Note 5 is much better, as is the camera. However I'm worried it'll strain my hand to use.

It all depends on personal preferences. Budget phones mean that some corners were cut and you have to decide which ones are more valuable for you. On that specific comparison I would go for the Moto mostly because the software. Xiaomi phones have a very heavy skin for my liking and some preinstalled apps that are, at best, useless.
