Moto Razr, or Nexus Prime?

This is going to be a tough one for me. I really like Motorola but nothing against Samsung.

My problem is the question, do I want a developers phone?

I was an early adopter of Honeycomb with a GED. Now yes I do get updates sooner but there has only been 3 and they all have introduced new bugs. Plus other manufactures haven't needed the latest update since it activated the Xooms SD card. And the wait for other manufactures to get updates pushed out has only been a couple weeks assuming it was a brand name. And on top of all the manufactures ui's have fixed the bugs I'm dealing with.

Google's update to honeycomb 3.2 is US only and it adds read only SD card support. Now Motorola's world wide 3.1 update added read AND write access for the SD card. Now some places in the world had there 3.1 update before I had 3.2. Which means some places in the world had SD card read write access before I could even read it. Keep in mind its been months and without rooting I still can't write to the SD without using a PC.

Damnt, I wish they never announced this phone. I'll probably get whichever is out first. Either case I know I'll regret it. :-)

I'm really torn. Locked bootloader is definitely a letdown, but that doesn't mean it can't be unlocked in the future. I want to know if the RAZR has an upgraded camera over the Bionic/Droid 3 and if it uses the 4460 over the 4430 OMAP. The accessories look pretty slick, but I'm not sure if that's enough to persuade me away from the Galaxy Nexus. Now if Costco bundles the RAZR with docks and the bluetooth keyboard....

According to Engadget, it's the 4430 quite unfortunately.

I love phone wars. The customer always wins. If the rumored 10th is indeed the launch, I may hold both of these bad boys to see which I want. I just need to know the retail price on both since i'm on contract with the bolt since april. :-\

The more thought I give this the more I want to stick with the nexus.

The razr pics show cap buttons which I think will feel dated pretty quick compared to on screen buttons.

Amoled screen with a thinner battery makes me worry a bit then 4g? Yikes

None removable battery so if the battery life is lacking you won't have many options.

Waiting for ICS will probably be unbearable esp. if other phones get it first.

Motorola camera maybe questionable.

And I'm sure I'll think of a lot of etc's.

Motorola Cameras normally suck.
Locked Boot loader.
Bloatware.
Non Removable battery.
Moto Blur.
All major turn offs (to me at least)

Been waiting too long for a Nexus on VZW to pass that up.

Unlocked boot loader
Stock Vanilla
No bloatware
ICS
Quality camera (based on previous Samsung phones)

That's just me though.

Everybody keeps talking about a none removable battery for the RAZR as a reason not to get, but I thought that was the case for both phones?

I like the looks of the RAZR over the Nexus and the specs are close enough to each other as far as I'm concerned. But I think I still favor the the Nexus because ICS. But I still think I will wait until both are in the store and I can have a hands on with both of them, no pre ordering for me.

Does anyone care about gorilla glass?

I've had gorilla glass before and it is amazing.

I hope Prime has it because that will seal the deal with me

Yep, I have a sheet of it in front of me on my tablet and its great.

Has there ever been curved gorilla glass?

My upgrade is due in two days and I'm debating between the RAZR and Prime. Couple of questions if anyone knows the answer:

1. Availability - I have an OG Droid, which I bought several months after it came out. I've never pre-ordered a phone before (my gf did for her iPhone 4) so I want to know if it's necessary to do so. I mean, would they sell out? I really would like to go into a store and compare the two devices, particularily the camera.

2. Camera - Really the only thing I did not like about my OG Droid. Painfully slow to load, focus, and actually shoot a picture. I've read good things about Samsung's camera, was wondering if Motorola has improved. It's pretty much the only thing on an iPhone that I envy. The camera is fast and produces decent pictures. I want to be able to take out my phone and take a picture fairly quickly if I need to. It takes about 7 seconds for my OG Droid (rooted) to turn on the phone, click the camera app (I use Camera Zoom), ready to take the picture. Then the camera takes another 1.5 - 2 secs to focus and shoot.

3. Armband - Probably not a big deal to some people, but I'm a runner and run five times a week. For anyone who owns a Droid X, how did the armband work with that bump at the end of the phone? I don't want part of my phone hanging out of an armband when I'm running because the bump won't fit. And I don't like running with a phone in my pocket either.

4. Where to buy - Will both phones be available at multiple retailers, like Best Buy, Target, Costco, etc? I talked to someone at Target (they sell Verizon phones) and he said that the 5% Red Card discount applies to phone purchases.

I returned my Bionic today. Today was my last day to return it and, I couldn't help it when I heard about the Razr. I'm leaning toward the Nexus prime but, I'll have to wait until tonight to be sure. The Razr comes with some nice accessories, which is important to me. If the prime comes with these same accessories then it's a no-brainer, I'm getting it. You just can't beat pure Google IMO.

3) I use to run with a DX and had that in an armband and that was ok back in the day. But it was a covered armband and worked well. I use Cardio Trainer for GPS but then got use to the route and eventually got a nano

I read somewhere that the locked bootloader was per the request of Verizon and not Motorola's decision. Considering that, what are the chances that the the G-Nex will have to have a locked bootloader to be on Verizon? I personally don't care about this, but the question popped into my head and I felt the need to share.

Right now I'm just waiting for some solid images and first impressions on the G-Nex tonight so I can finally decide which one to upgrade my OG Droid for. If the G-Nex has anywhere near the same build quality as the Razr, then I'll get the G-Nex for ICS. If not, I'll go with the Razr which looks pretty sweet. I have no problems waiting for an ICS phone next year with the 2nd gen LTE chips and quad core. Just need something to replace my OG with before it dies on me and the Razr will suit me just fine.

With the information and pics we have seen so far on the Razr I will admit I am interested, but I am still leaning toward the Galaxy nexus.

One of the interesting "nuggets" mentioned, was an updated LTE modem in the G-Nex. And I've not see/heard this mentioned so far on the Razr.

Be interesting to see some speed test results between the two on VZW's 4G LTE network.

All I have to say about the Razr is wow...THAT is how you make phone hardware. Easily the best looking phone to date imo. I will seriously consider this phone along side the Galaxy Nexus. If the screen looks just as good and some sort of time table for ICS update is announced, I may opt for it over the Nexus.

Honestly the biggest thing keeping me from the Razr is the Nexus's NFC. I know I'm never going to use it once, but I want it just to have the potential.
