it feels like wood. they found a wood that was durable enough to hold up to the wear and tear, along with being capable of allowing signals to pass through. then they bleached the heck out of it and slapped on a simulated wood finish. after that they coated to protect from water.

Hoping the quality is there! I got the Ebony and I'm excited to see it!

Got the same one with EBONY/Black Front and Silver, saw some videos of the original moto x with the ebony wood and I was sold. Hopefully the battery gets me through the day with my usage. I am sure with my usage and having moto x on my wrist I will be going for the phone less often.

Took the words out of my mouth. As soon as I saw that I thought it was a perfect design for an OSU fan.

I don't think anyone has gotten the phone yet. I think the plastic on the back of the original moto x was soft touch. The one I ordered is wood.

I believe the black is soft touch. Check out the youtube video for Marquees Brownlee "Moto X (2014) Review!" at the 2min and 30sec mark. I'd post the link, but androidcentral won't allow it since I don't post frequently (don't have at least ten posts :-/ ). Brownlee says the soft touch black feels like leather and there is only one option for black on the motomaker.

Did anybody get one with purple trim? I know nobody's actually received theirs yet but it would be nice to see how purple the purple is. I'm looking at pairing it with the ebony back.

I can't post links yet, but if you go to reddit and look in the "post pics of your moto x" thread there is a person that posted pics of their purple/black/purple phone. The trim looks VERY purple, not sure about the plastic back though, could be just the lighting.

Someone also posted pics of their ebony back, and I've gotta say I'm not lovin the new ebony. Less of the dark stain and much more of the lighter stain on the new version compared to the old.

The images here are an indication on how successful this move is by Motorola. When some of us complain about Apple hoodwinking the public, we get attacked. Motorola is appears to be the ONLY company that is really offering something different with the personalized design of your phone, everyone can stand out with a unique design... Which is why I won't post mine so it won't be copied...!!!
