Moto X 2014 Bluetooth audio quality, text to speech, and the new Moto app

Moto X Pure Edition on AT&T, 32GB, Black w/Cognac Leather and silver accents.

Anyone having hands-free Bluetooth issues in the car? Audio is absolutely horrible and it won't read texts. In the old Moto Assist app there was a setting under "Talk to me" of "Use Alternate Channel". That's gone in the new Moto app, and BT performance stinks.

Using this device in my car (2007 BMW 530) is really frustrating, and I was wondering if anyone else was having these issues.

Thanks!
John

Have not received mine yet but that would be an instant reason for return. Have you tried with without using moto assist if that is an option?

In this day and age this stuff should just work. Was having some issues with my car bluetooth with my iPhone 6+ until a factory reset helped. Get my Moto X tomorrow and will be checking this out immediately.

Re: Bluetooth audio quality, text to speech, and the new Moto app

Keep in mind that older BMW Bluetooth can be goofy as hell with some phones, too.

I'm in that boat as my '06 330i really goes wonky about once a month with my HTC One X. For awhile, I thought it was the phone (maybe it is), but I'm betting on the car at this point. I don't have BT issues with the phone elsewhere (work, home streaming music).

Not saying it's not the phone, but don't rule out the Bimmer. Good luck.

Thanks, I did consider that. But I had absolutely no issues with my old Nokia Lumia 1020 or my wife's iPhone 5. Got a loaner Moto G and was able to make it work only after changing the setting above.

I thought perhaps my BT ULF module was to blame, but it worked fine for the other phone.

I've also read a few posts about problems with Kit Kat and Bluetooth, so maybe a fix is in the works.

No love from support, either. They acted like they thought the old app should be on my phone.

Let me know how it goes. I do like everything about this phone, but I spend A LOT of time in the car, and it needs to work.

Works great in my lexus but it may be very compatible with both being 2014

So do I. It's a big part of why I want the Moto X (text while driving hands free, incoming call prompts), so I'll be following this thread with interest. I hope your situation gets sorted, John. From my perspective, I hope it's anomaly that you get covered under warranty.

Re: Bluetooth audio quality, text to speech, and the new Moto app

I have similar problems with 2007 BMW 750Li. Nokia and iphones works perfectly including reading SMS messages, but android phones have issues: choppy connection, horrible audio quality, no SMS read back etc. I tried Note 3, Oppo F7a, and currently using LG G3. All same issues.

Re: Bluetooth audio quality, text to speech, and the new Moto app

My update is that my Moto X isn't much better in pairing with my BMW. Major issues with noise. I'm not sure what the least expensive bluetooth enabled aftermarket device is, but I'm going to be looking into it.

Now if I can get the phone to stop going into sleep mode when I'm in the middle of a text response that it requested...I'd be a much safer driver.
