Just as what the topic suggests, will you be buying, wait for a fire sale, wait for user reviews, or wait for next-gen? I'm quite curious to see what it takes to pull that trigger. For me, I may buy the new x on a fire sell, or just wait till next gen.

Re: buying, waiting 4 fire sale?, or wait 4 nex-gen?

I haven't made up my mind yet. My son has my old Droid 4 but he hasn't been taking care of it so I doubt he deserves my current X. Plus, I'm waiting for some professional and real people feedback to help me decide as well. Because in reality, I don't need a new X as my current one is just fine.

I have an upgrade. I think i've decided to buy one on day one. Will return it if I don't like it.

Wow! You're in for a real eye opener. That battery life will seem like an eternity.

I know it's not one of your choices but I think I'll wait to see what happens with the Nexus before I make up my mind. I'm content with the price so idt I'll wait for it up go lower, but if it does while I'm waiting out the Nexus then I won't be mad. 😁

I think ATM the only other option I'd consider is the M8. But I'm leaning more towards the Moto.

I like good camera quality and battery life now, so I'm not inclined on Nexus anymore since they are always lacking in those areas. While the previous X didn't have a great camera, I know the sensor in the new one is very capable. Even with 2300mah battery I still trust it'll be okay from past experience with Motorola. Rooting is becoming less important to me. I need those Moto features.

They won't be on a fire sale until 8 months from now I think. Maybe you can wait for a Nexus 5 fire sale which I don't think still happen this time either.

exactimundo!

to me, the X is the best of both worlds, a nexus - which is delivering the vanilla OS and the M8, S5 etc - delivering some nice hardware

add to that the super, well-thought moto apps, the new X is in my eyes the overall champ

I was so anxious for this phone to come out but now that it has I am not sure. Between screen size, battery and no sd card slot I am in holding pattern. Thinking of original moto x with 64GB or HTC M8 or HTC Remix or just wait. :(

I've been throwing money at my screen for a couple weeks now. Eventually it will go through and my new Moto X will get here.

I'm picky about how my phones look and I HATE that stuck out camera on the N5. So I probably won't be considering one unless they fire sale them SUPER cheap.

By the time this comes out it'll only be a month wait to know what Google has up it's sleeve. I've wanted a Moto made nexus for pretty much every generation now and we just might get it this year.

What I do know is the new Nexus will have a good enough camera and good enough battery for my needs.

Hard to technically call it a "fire sale" because idt it'll ever drop to super cheapness just to clear out everything they own.(What touchpad did) But it's entirely possible if this thing doesn't sell that well that in 2 months they will drop the price some. Like the first gen did and like the Fire phone did recently.

Re: buying, waiting 4 fire sale?, or wait 4 nex-gen?

Buying a 32GB unlocked version on Day One. The OG Moto X is the best phone I've ever owned, and I prefer the bigger, 1080p screen of the new X... so for me, it is an absolute no-brainer. Only question is how I'm going to design it. Haven't decided among wood, leather, and soft touch yet, and will be reading as many reviews as I can to get a feel for the durability of the leather.

Come on, Moto! Take my money!!!

Re: buying, waiting 4 fire sale?, or wait 4 nex-gen?

While I like to hate on Apple , I'm not going to make a decision until the iPhone comes out. I use my phone mainly for my construction business and really need a refined straight forward phone without the frills. Love my Moto x but I can't resist getting a new phone once a year. I'm pretty set on the new Moto X with a leather back but it's really between that, the iPhone and the Sony Z3 which still has a skin but minimal compared to the Samsung and LG

Buying and deciding for myself. The 30 day return window should provide enough info about everything else coming out to decide if I need to back peddle.

I love nexus devises and have always wanted one, but if the Nexus if 6", I'm out. Plus i am on verizon which is probably a no go.

Re: buying, waiting 4 fire sale?, or wait 4 nex-gen?

Waiting to see the Droid lineup, and more importantly the Nexus X

Re: buying, waiting 4 fire sale?, or wait 4 nex-gen?

Unfortunately, I predict that although this will be a well-reviewed and even beloved device for those who purchase, it will sell relatively poorly -- much like the OG Moto X's first launch -- compared to the upcoming Note 4, iPhone 6/6+, and other potentials this Fall (Nexus 6, Xperia Z3, etc.).

So in other words, going to wait a bit to see if there are any promotions/sales a few months down the road. Also, this gives Moto Maker and the manufacturers a chance to iron out any initial kinks or hardware-issues it might run into it its first few months.

Maybe by the first promo/sale it'll start shipping with or be upgrade-ready to Android L, too? That'd be nice.

Re: buying, waiting 4 fire sale?, or wait 4 nex-gen?

I'm most likely going to buy. The early reviews are glowing and I've loved the original. The off-contract price at $499 is great too, considering most other flagship phones are $600-700 range.

I'm definitely picking up a 32 GB this time around. I have the 16 GB Moto X and I've had to keep track of my space usage, mostly because I preload music from Google Play.

Yep. I've been saying over and over since I got my Moto X that I don't care about rooting or installing ROMs anymore. I'm tired of all of that business. I love having a phone that works the way I want it to right out of the box.
