Moto X 2014 Could the camera be better with another third party app?

Some where I was reading the issue with the camera is mainly enhancements Moto might not have paid Sony for. So my question is pretty basic here...Could another/better app fix some of the camera issues maybe? Could these enhancements be added to a software update if Moto wanted to buy said enhancements? Sadly I don't know to much about cameras. So the basic point and shoot will more than likely be good enough by me but this just entered my mind so I thought I'd ask...

Thanks!

Re: Could the camera be better with another third party app?

there's the possibility of 3rd camera apps being better, but it's not a guarantee. doing some test shots last night i thought the google camera app HDR mode, while a tad slower, provided better quality output. also, the google camera HDR mode was less susceptible to shaky hands resulting in blur compared to the moto camera HDR.

with android L coming out this fall, and the possible ability to have manual control via the opened APIs, it's up to devs to be able to support that. and if they do, 3rd party apps will be really great and the camera should provide better results (manually lowing ISO).

Possibly, but it cannot fix shortcomings in the firmware. It really depends on what actually needs improving.

Yes, try Camera FV-5 and lower the ISO level for low light situations.
