Moto X 2014 Fragile Screen?

I have had my Moto X for just over a week and this afternoon I dropped it off my desk on to the carpeted floor. I didn't notice it at first, but there is a crack from the middle of the top speaker, to the left hand side. It was not a far drop and onto carpet??? Really?

I dropped my original Moto X a few times and it was fine. This one looks like it has a better build, but if the screen cracks that easy, I could have bought an iPhone.

I love this phone, but now I am very unhappy about the fragile screen.

It's all about the angle of the contact point.

I shattered my 2013 X easily, but it hit dead on corner (perpendicular to the floor).

Man I waved my hand one day while holding my 2013 moto. I lost grip and it hit a Friggen mirror! Yes a mirror in my armoire and the Moto shattered! I mean like the screen was half black and caved in. Lol it must have been just the right.. Or wrong angle.

The screen isn't any more fragile that any other current device. Luck is a fickle friend when it comes to dropping phones. I've seen screens break when dropped landing screen down, I've dropped my phone hard enough on a corner to crunch the corner, but the screen has been fine. Flip a coin...

Not really, people who can talk to themselves are probably the least likely to go crazy in isolation or post-apocalypse, unless they are crazy to start with, which is debatable.

This. It's glass, if it lands at the wrong angle it's likely to break. Sorry for your bad luck, but it happens. I've seen iPhones shatter from almost the exact same drop you experienced, so Apple won't necessarily save you there.

It's funny, I dropped my old BlackBerry Torch a hundred times. The corners were all beat up but the screen was perfect.

Anyway, I called Motorola and they will replace it for a mere $125 (+tax). I guess I'll have to start using a case on it. :-(
