Moto X 2014 Hands On - Just to Big...

Re: Hands On - Just to Big...

One handed PIN unlocked is more difficult with the new one. Switching from using my right hand to the left helps because it's now easier to press the return key.

Re: Hands On - Just to Big...

I currently use a Note 3 and I have relatively small hands. It's not that difficult to use one handed operation on a larger phone. All you have to do is rest the bottom of the phone against your torso and slide your palm up and down the side (left side with left hand, right side with right hand). A slight angle up from the bottom will prevent it from slipping out of your hand. The area where your ribs meet your sternum is a good index point. Use a relaxed grip so that your fingers are free to move about the back of the phone but they're really there to support your palm movement. They're not necessarily gripping around the opposite side of the phone. This method works for me when my other hand is tied up. Its not as fast as using two hands but effective when you only have use of one. I don't use the single handed operation mode on the Note 3 either.

On that note (pun not intended), looking forward to ordering a Pure Moto X 2014 once my contract on VZW expires (Switching to AT&T as well). I can't go above 5.5" anymore. Too big for my uniform shirt pockets.

Re: Hands On - Just to Big...

Feel exactly the same. Held the phone yesterday and I am sad that it isn't smaller. I will not buy a phone that is much bigger than the original X. Dang thing is too wide too.

Re: Hands On - Just to Big...

You're not a minority and don't have to feel bad about it being too big for you. There is a very simple fact about smart phone screen sizes that most people don't understand: WE VARY IN SIZE. Yes, it's that simple. I'm 1.88m and my hands are probably about 20% bigger than yours. For me that screen size is perfect, maybe a bit on the small side. There are many smaller phones out there for smaller people or bigger people who just, well, like smaller phones. Get used to the idea of customizing.

How'd your measure your hand to get 1.88m?

I didn't like the size at first either after checking it out at Verizon. I received mine today from motomaker and am already getting used to it. The build quality is excellent and that means a lot to me. I do wish we could have had the screen no bigger than 5" though.

BTW...walnut, bronze and black looks badass :)
