I feel like this is a stupid question but is there a default music player that comes with the moto x?

I can't find it in my app drawer. I started disabling the Verizon bloat apps after I first got it and I'm wondering if I did something.

Please help this is driving me crazy!

Re: Music player?

Yes, Play Music. It's a Google app, if you have a Google folder look there. The app should be preloaded on your phone.

Re: Music player?

Ohhh okay. What does this mean if I want to keep music in my phone storage to listen to without streaming?

Just click on the option to DOWNLOAD and the music stays on your phone. Check if you are downloading by WiFi only or either data/WiFi option.

With Google's Play Music app you have the option to stream music that you have stored in the cloud through Google Music or play any songs that you store locally to the internal memory. Even music stored in the cloud with Google Music can be "pinned" to you phone, meaning the music even though it's stored in the cloud is cached to your phone for offline listening (no need to stream using data). If you choose to store music purchased through Google in your phone's storage it will use your available memory. Music files are relatively small but a large music collection will take up a lot of space quickly.

Re: Music player?

Thanks everybody for your help! I will definitely be checking out the Google music app

Re: Music player?

FYI Poweramp is a popular music app you can download in thr play store, I prefer to use it instead of Play Music.

Re: Music player?

I really like Rocket Player as a music player and if you need to sync from iTunes, the iSyncr is the best I've found. Both are by JRT Studio.

If you put music in your storage you can play it with Google Play Music. Play music even sees my podcasts I download with Pocket cast. It does not seem to matter where it is in my phone the app finds it.

Re: Music player?

2nd the rec for Rocket Player if you're looking for a more standard type of player after you've found the 'Google Play Music'. I've tried a number of music apps and it has the most intuitive and user friendly interface. Some of the popular ones were a downright hot mess in the UI dept. lol. bad.

Re: Music player?

Shuttle+ doesn't have the best name but it does have a clean, very intuitive interface! I highly recommend it as a music player. I like the interface better than PowerAmp, Rocket, Mixzing, and all the others I've tried and/or owned.

It's almost identical to Rocket Player. What's the difference in the interface? The only difference I see is that with shuttle they have a light blue top with translucent navigation bar and with Rocket Player the menu when you hit each item in a category it shows a couple more options., which is so much better). Other than that, they look, operate and navigate almost identically, no?

Just looked through and see some of the things they've done, very nice ui updates. : ). Like RocketPlayer but better, and prettier, thanks. Just tucked away my RP and put my SP+ on the desktop.

Thanks for the good info on pinning music!

PS. Avoid Amazon Music player until they fix all the bugs in it. Major battery drain and resource hog right now. I have tons of music I purchased from Amazon that I can't access until they fix the app :(

Re: Music player?

On the note of discussing music players, are there any that might work with Moto's active display? I love active display and don't want it to go away, but you have to unlock your phone in order to control your music player (pause, play, advance track, etc...).

Re: Music player?

Not that I'm aware. It's something I wish was available.
