Moto X 2014 Notification Light?

Re: Notification Light?

No. What's the point of a notification light when the phone's screen has active notifications?

Re: Notification Light?

Hmm I guess just was use to it from moto droids

Once you have active notifications, you will never ever EVER want to do without it. It's light years better than any notification light. I'm also very fond of the shake to activate the camera function. This phone is so darned cool!

Re: Notification Light?

Active notifications are good, but I still see the use for a bright notification light. I can see a BlackBerry blinking from 50 feet away.

Seeing a notification light from across the room is way ahead of having to get up,wave my hand across the screen just to see if I have a notification and how many times do I do this to find there is no notification.Waste of time.Bring back the notification light or at least give the choice to use either option

If you have a notification your phone will flash that notification on the screena few times in a similar way a notification light would. You don't have to wave your hand constantly to see if you have a notification. I didn't know quite how that worked til I got it last week and now I don't miss not having a notification light at all.

Re: Notification Light?

i'm pretty sure mine doesn't have that light.

We all have it. It only turns on during a hard reboot. It's very short , and I think can only be green (because it's not for notification). You have to press volume down, keep it down, then press power, keep both pressed and then the reboot will kick in and then the light will come on.

Re: Notification Light?

The notification light is one of the few things I miss after upgrading from my Nexus 4. I used to use an app called Lightflow to set fast flashes to remind me when I'd left Bluetooth on and to tell me when the battery was fully charged (and a few other things). It would be great to have some way of getting a notification for these.

We have one but it only turns on when the battery is dead as a doornail. The original X looked cool as it lit up the whole top speaker. The new one has a small circular one in the middle of the speaker as I found out yesterday lol

If you boot into recovery you see the lovely green neon light on top of phone, there must be an app or setting to make it show notifications?

Notification light is also useful for charging purpose. Red meaning charging, green fully charged

I'm waiting for my X to show up but as a Nexus 5 user I can say that a notification light is great. Especially since on the N5 you can use an app to customize the colors used by the light. So for me red is email, green is a text, blue is a meeting notice, etc etc.

I don't have access to them now, but I think I remember some threads about people being able to activate the light on the gen 1 X but it had to be done once rooted...possibly the same here.

Re: Notification Light?

not confirmed i have both for years and prefer the led colored by notification, much more battery friendly and unobstrusive. of course your opinion is a valid one as well, but don't jump to conclusions and take your findings as the only possible universally valid point of view

That's the dumbest response I ever read.

The fact that you like to shake or hover your phone every time you need to check your messages, does not means that's the best way to do it, or at least what every one likes to do it. I want to see if I have a new message just looking at my phone. If the led is titling I have a message. I do not want to shake it every time I need to check the message. Also, the led is more battery friendly.

I think Motorola made a bad decision on this point. They do not have to take away features, they should give the user the ability to choose if they want Active Screen (Crappy Screen) or Led notifications.
