Moto X 2014 Shipping Estimates Increasing

I have been watching Motorola's website for the past week, and almost every day I build a 32 or 64 GB Pure Edition phone, the "Estimated Delivery" keeps slipping back another day. The 64 GB Pure is out of stock and back ordered by 34 days, and this date has remained constant, but the 32 GB keeps dropping. 3 days ago, it was estimated 8 days, then 2 days ago it was estimated 9 days, and now it is 10 days.

Also, when it says "In Stock Feb 10, 2015" does this mean it won't even start assembly until then, or does it mean it won't ship until then?

Does it really take Moto this long to ship the phones, and are they really back ordered this far?

West Coast ports in the US ate working at historically low efficiencies due to ongoing labor slow downs during an acrimonious contract negotiation. Ships unloading are being delayed by days and weeks, and this is causing cascading delays across all ocean and air gateways. EVERYTHING imported is taking weeks longer to get delivered now, and it's probably going to get worse before or gets better.

That's a good point, I'll have to research that some.

I'd also add that many people's experience (including mine) with Motorola's estimated delivery dates is that the phone arrives 3 days earlier than estimated.

It slipped back again. Now it's "In Stock" February 11 instead of 10. Come on Moto, I want to place my order and get my X, but I don't want to wait forever to get it! :/

I don't use the camera all that often, but a lot of people I know say this was a problem with the HTC Diamond also, so I wasn't expecting much from the camera.

The battery is also pretty much expected. This is a typical smartphone battery life, save for the Blackberry. I can still easily get through a day.

Reduce the frequency at which your non-Gmail accounts are checked, and as stated earlier use a task killer to ensure things aren't running in the background. So far I like "Advanced Task Killer."

I would just go ahead and order it. The "in stock" date is just an estimate of when the phone you designed will be completed. They don't build any of the moto maker phones until you place the order. I've ordered 3 phones from moto maker and I got every one of them before the in stock date they showed me.

You'll want to order the phone while you can get the $100 off. The sale ends on Feb 14 th. You will also likely have better luck the sooner you order because as the sale progresses more people will be ordering.

Thanks for clearing that up. So basically the in stock date is the date when it will be completed/shipped?

I also registered and got the $140 off promo code on the 2nd, so it's an even better deal for me! :)

To answer the first question: Yes, that is my experience.

Also, that's great. I got the $140 off promo code back on cyber Monday. I was already planning on buying the phone to replace my old moto x, so I requested the code immediately after the page went up. Lol

Nice! That's what I did as well. I got my code at 11:01 CT :)

Placed the order, estimated delivery is next Friday, the 13th. Can't wait, I got a Pure Edition 32 GB (64 is out of stock for the next 23-25 days and I don't want to wait) Black Front, Blue plastic back, and Metallic Silver trim, with a greeting of "Pure Edition". :)

Nice mine is red back, black front, metallic dark gray trim, and no greeting. I also have the 32GB. One of the greatest things about the Moto X besides the stock Android UI and Motorola's useful additions is the ability to customize the phones colors.
