Re: Verizon and Google Wallet?

I too would like to know the answer to this...I use Google Wallet a lot with my current (Verizon 2013 Moto X) and would like to be able to keep using Wallet, when I upgrade to the Moto X 2014 in the future.

Would love to know myself, don't want to be tied down to softbank (formerly ISIS) only

Re: Verizon and Google Wallet?

I'm on Verizon, and have both Google Wallet and Softbank (ISIS) installed on my 2014 Moto X, and just like my 2013 Moto X, they both work great. Only one can be set to be the default when you "Tap to Pay". If you load the app that isn't set as the default, there is an option to designate that app as the default when you open the app (both apps have this). You can also go into the main Android Settings, and change the default tap to pay app there.

I usually use the Softbank app - I have it set up with an AmEx Serve account, and for each purchase over $1, I get a credit back of $1; up to $50/month. I use my phone to purchase my morning beverage at Maverik convenience stores, and it costs $1.06; so I get a credit back of $1, for a net cost of .06 for 44oz of Pepsi :) Can't go wrong with that deal right now :) That deal is currently set to expire 12/31/14.

Re: Verizon and Google Wallet?

Google Wallet works fine on Moto X 2nd gen. I use GW as my daily spending account and I love the fact as soon as the card is swiped I got a notice on my phone. Never using my debit card besides for cash ever again.

I've only used wallet a couple of times and each time after tapping I still have to enter the wallet pin into the merchant's device. Is this normal or just the way the merchant has set up his device? I thought the purpose of wallet was that you didn't need to input anything else after the tap.

Re: Verizon and Google Wallet?

As stated in my previous post, I use Wallet all the time with my Verizon, moto x, 1st Generation..I have never had to enter any wallet pin into the merchants device. I do not think that is normal. I swipe my phone and the merchants device acknowledges the sale and prints out a receipt, that's all there is to it. I personally would not give or provide verbally, my wallet pin to anyone.

I should add that my wallet account is tied to a credit card not a debit card. Maybe? that has something to do with the merchant wanted to input your pin into his machine? Before I swipe my phone I state that "this is a credit card transaction". Done, I'm out of there....

Re: Verizon and Google Wallet?

If the merchant asks, make sure to tell them to run it as credit NOT debit. I don't know if that would make a difference, but that is what the Google Wallet instructions say. I've never entered a PIN in the merchants device.

I've only linked an Amex card to Wallet so the PIN that the machine asks for is the Google Wallet PIN and not any PIN associated with the credit card.
