Updated to lollipop 5.1 on droid x 2 nd generation now battery doesn't last as well

Re: Since I updated my Moto X 2014 - lollipop 5.1 the battery is draining why

Give it time to let it settle in. See what is like after approx 2 weeks, installing apps, syncing, etc

Also, it depends a LOT on if you were running 5.0 Lollipop or coming from Kit Kat. If you came from Kit Kat it might be a very good idea to save your data to someplace in the cloud... I prefer Dropbox for some things, pc is good for others... and then do a factory reset... major updates/upgrades work best if you do a factory reset... if clearing cache and the cache partition does not work.

But I also agree to let it settle for a week or two and not jump the gun too quickly... factory reset is a big step and can take time to setup a device again from scratch, even with some things backed up.

I have having the same problem. Since OTA installation of Android 5.1 a few days ago, my battery appears to be substantially shorter than it was before the upgrade. Will give it a few weeks, as suggested, and see what happens.

Mine is the same as it was on 5.0.2. I did a system cache clear after installing though.

My battery life is much worse after the upgrade from 5.0 to 5.1, it seems that Google Services, Cell Standby and surprisingly Messages is using a lot of the battery. I plan on doing a cache wipe first and hope to avoid to a factory reset which I find to be a pain.

Exact same problem here. Google services, Cell standby, and Android OS is absolutely killing my battery. I've done several cache wipes and still have the same problem. I guess I'll try a factory reset next.

Same thing here. I've even done a factory reset and nothing changed.

After the OTA update to 5.1 (from 5.0) on my Pure Edition (XT1095) battery life was okay, but there was a problem with a flicker of the lock screen when notifications were displayed. I finally got around to wiping the cache partition, and now everything is running perfectly. And, battery life has definitely improved for me. Did the same to my wife's XT1095, and it too has better battery life now. From both my own experience and what I've read elsewhere, wiping the cache partition is really important. I've also read that after an update, you should go through about three cycles of nearly completely depleting the battery and then fully charging it. Without doing that three times, the system isn't properly calibrated to tell you how much battery life is left.

My Moto X 2014 on Republic Wireless is definitely draining faster on 5.1 than it did previously on 4.4.4. Tried all of the usual reboot, cache partition wipe and factory reset (a week ago now) and nothing is improving battery life back to what it was. I used to go an entire 17 hour day and have at least 20% battery left and easily get 2 to 2 1/2 hours of screen on time with light to moderate use. Now, I'm lucky to get 12 to 14 hours on a single charge and screen on time of under 2 hours with similar usage.

Hi. I bought a pure.edition moto x second gen that came installed with lollipop. But batterry life is only about 10 hours. I have probably considered heavy use. With blue tooth on all the time(to pebble), lots of chat function and email notifications. I'm on WiFi most of the time. Is this considered normal battery life with this use? Appreciate any input. Thanks

10 hours is great for this device. I'm lucky to get half that.

Ten hours of heavy use is pretty good. Buy a turbo charger, put somewhere handy and give you X a boost midway through the day. Will last all night!

Okay folks. Here's what may be happening. I know that when I have Google Chrome and Facebook open, it drains like crazy. I have a new battery on order, and hopefully, it will be here, this week.

I have not tried deleting the cache partition yet. However, like you folks out there, trying to get this thing to charge, it is a nightmare. I have the turbo-charger and the standard charger, but all I get is the "green light."

I decided that this isn't working and I left it in my motor vehicle charger, while the ambient temperature was 35ºf, outside and about 40ºf, in the car. Well folks, after sitting in the car for about one half hour, the phone started charging. Today, I left it on the charger and all I had was either a green light or none. The phone would not take a charge.

I put the phone, in the freezer, at 0ºf, for 35 minutes. Place the phone on a standard charger and after 10 minutes and about ten false starts, it started charging. I do not recommend as a long term solution. But, when it takes a week or two to get a battery, people like myself, need to think outside the box.

Note to Motorola. These batteries suck. You need a tool kit to replace these things, on the newer phones. UGH!!!
