I have searched but can't seem to find anyone with this issue. I was preparing to sell my 1st gen Moto X (now have the Moto X 2nd Gen). I have done nothing to it and is stock. I encrypted the phone, and then did a factory reset. All was fine. I then went into the boot menu, went into recovery, and did a wipe that way for another layer of deleting.
When I powered it on, I got the Motorola icon screen and then a droid picture with the words "erasing..." below. This went on for 10 minutes and then the screen went blank. After waiting some more, I tried to power on and nothing. I then held the power button down for 10 seconds, and phone turned on, but did the same thing again (erasing...)
I then went into the boot menu, selected recovery. Back to erasing.....
I went into boot menu again, selected normal power up, phone finally went to setup menu. Did basic setup. All seemed good. Turned it off. Powered back on... and back to "erasing....."
The only way to power the phone on is from the boot menu but its always a new setup.
Any ideas on how to stop this cycle. I am on lollipop.
