Moto X from Note 4?

I'm intrigued by the Moto X, and thinking of making the change. My Note 4 is a good device but has its quirks. Anyone here make the change from a Note 3 or 4 to the Moto X? If so what are your thoughts on the transition? Will I miss the S pen functionally and multi tasking? Battery life and expandable storage will be sorely missed, but honestly not much else. I'm looking for an easy device to use that is fun and different. The Moto X seems to be that device. The Note 4 camera is the truth, but I only take simple pictures to upload to social media and send to family, so it's not crucial to have a top notch camera. Thanks for your input.

If you use them, yes.

Battery life and expandable storage will be sorely missed
And when the battery goes you have to pay for a much more expensive battery and the labor to put it in. If the battery goes into thermal runaway, you don't lose a $15 battery, you lose the phone. (And carrying a spare battery with you doesn't do anything.) The non-replaceable battery isn't such a minor point. (Neither is the lack of external storage. It's used for more than just storage - like recovering a bricked phone.)

I'm looking at getting either an X or Note 4 (coming from an iPhone 6 Plus). My biggest gripes with the X are the camera and battery. But I love stock Android and the added bonuses that Moto has included. I'm still worried that leaving the camera and battery of the 6 Plus behind will bother me if I go to an X.

If you aren't too worried about that, and don't live off of the S Pen features, then you'll probably be fine.

The added features Motorola has added to the Moto X line is what has me excited. The Note 4 is an excellent device, but not for me. The camera, S Pen, multitasking capabilities, screen, replaceable battery and expandable storage are awesome but not a necessity. I prefer everyday usage over niceties. For me it's substance over form. However, there is nothing like real world feedback from actual Moto X users, and those who have experience with both devices.

Yeah, I can't give you that real world feel. I can only say that it sounds like you would be fine with the X as log as you don't mind the battery and camera quality drop off. If those were a little better, I'd be all over the X. As it stands I'm still debating between the 6 Plus (which I'm currently using), Note 4, OnePlus, and Moto X.

Good luck in your search!!

IMHO, unless you're a heavy/power user, the battery will get you through the day. I consider myself a moderate user and have only had to plug in during the day two times since I've purchased the phone. The average user will make it through the day. The camera will not compare to the Note 4 or IPhone.

No way I'd get any phone over my note 4 edge there's no comparison to the to the moto x compares with the galaxy s5 so if your question is what's the best phone to date IMHO it's the note 4 hands down

Funny, I'm thinking the exact opposite.

I love the quirky things that make the Moto X the Moto X. It is easy to use, it is fun, it is different, it runs well, it's well-built, and if it weren't for the fact that it cannot get me through an 8-hour day of moderately heavy use, it would be "the one".

But it can't. And I can't just carry an extra battery, I have to carry an external battery pack, and attach it to the phone once or twice a day if I don't have enough desk time to top it off.

If you aren't a super heavy user like me, the Moto X is a great device. Screen is gorgeous, ergonomics are great, the software is top-notch...

... but if you are a heavy user (it's how I get my corporate email when I'm in meetings, which I'm in a lot of and I get a lot of email), it's sometimes painfully bad. The original Moto X does a lot better in that regard, if you can handle the smaller screen.

Note 4 is terrific. But it does lag. Scrolling isn't as smooth as it is on the Nexus 6 or Moto X. I bought a Note but now am trying to sell it after I bought a Moto X 2014. It's a really great phone.

I would choose any Motorola phone over a Samsung phone for the simple fact that Motorola uses a vanilla Android ui. It's just what I prefer. The manufacturer skins are all ugly and slow the phone down. With lollipop the stock Android ui is better than its ever been.

I left the 2014 Moto X for the Note 4, couldn't be happier. Battery life is wonderful, camera is way better, and I still have active display with an acdisplay app. TouchWiz is still a little much, but it's not as bad as it used to be.

You like the Moto X over the Note 4? What do you think about the difference in battery life? What about camera?

I have both. I love the X for its size and speed. My pure edition on lollipop is much faster than my att issued note 4. Plus I like stock android more so there's that.

Just went from my X to the Note 4, actually:

Moto X:
- More vanilla Android
- Feels a little better in the hand due to size
- "Twist and shoot" camera
- Quirky little things that make the Moto X the Moto X (those 3D films, startup animation, etc)
- Customizable google voice command

Note 4:
- Battery life - I'm a VERY heavy phone user and the Note 4 is still somewhat wanting for me in battery life, but I don't feel tethered to a charger as much.
- Screen size
- S-Pen - seriously, I love this thing.
- Camera
- Signal strength (so far, the Note 4 is on par with the Moto X 2013 - the 2014 Moto X was a significant step backward in the ability to eke out a signal in the rural area I call my commute).

I have both of these devices. I like them both for different reasons.

The moto x is very smooth and easy to navigate. The ui looks much better imo. Plus the antennas are a little better than the Note.

The Note 4 is a power house. The big screen provides more real estate to view webpages and emails. Plus you can get more screen on time with the Note.

All though I find the moto x uses less battery when sitting idle which my phones often do at work.

I have X, my wife has note 3, and I got my parents note 4. To me I will choose note 4 over x any day and no one seems to mention how much better it is to read and watch on note series. Even note 3 display quality blows away moto x.

If you want a vanilla feel on note, just get a luncher and all lags issues are pretty much gone.
