I have the Moto X 2013 and love the way Moto set it up. Its time to change phone and I was seriously considering the Pure, but it just seems to big for my taste. I like to be able to slip my phone in and out of my pocket with no problem. So.. if the Pure is too big, where do I go? I want to move up feature, camera, and display-wise, but want to keep the Moto interface and features. So do I consider the Moto X 2014? Or maybe the Moto G? Would the Moto G be a "downgrade" from my 2013 X?? Thoughts? (I also have a moto 360). Hard to consider moving to a Samsung after my Moto X. Decisions decisions....

Re: Moto x Pure alternative?

I can't answer your comparisons to the Moto G, but the 2014 Moto X isn't much better than the 2013 still with a poor camera and poor battery life, but it may be a worthy upgrade for you if you can get your hands on one for pretty cheap. I will say, I did like the 2014 Moto X. It felt great in the hand (perfect size IMO) and had a quality feel, but I need a bit more out of a camera on my phones.

Another alternative would be to wait for the new Nexus 5 that's reportedly releasing this fall (the LG one, which supposedly has a 5-5.2" screen). Yes, I know it's not Moto, but it will be stock Android and will likely launch with Android 6.0 Marshmallow. You'll be missing out on Moto features but would get stock Android and not have to mess with a skinned phone (ala GS6, G4, etc.).

I have heard that the 2015 Moto G is a better Moto X 2013. If you don't mind a 5" screen. That may be the best alternative. You'll also get MotoMaker. If I'm not mistaken you also get some of the same features as the Moto X. Check out the specs.

Re: Moto x Pure alternative?

I really like the Moto g 2015. I tried it out for a friend who has a 2013 Moto x but still wants a "smaller" phone. I really enjoyed using it. It was quick and responsive and the camera was much better than that camera on the 2013 Moto x. After using it myself for a few weeks I have no problem recommending it as an upgrade. It's a really good phone. Oh and battery life was great too.
