Moto X: Secondary alarm notification in bar

I noticed that when I have an alarm set, as the time gets close to the alarm, a second alarm on the left side of the notification bar shows. If I swipe down, it shows the alarm as being active. If I dismiss the alarm, it turns that alarm off, which is not good. Is there any way to disable or edit this so that it does not show?
