Moto X vs Note 3 vs. Nexus 5 - cant decide

+1 ... but, he's likely shutting down quite a few features when not in use. I get the same battery life as you, but I leave everything on 24/7.

If the OP values pure, smooth-running Android & fast updates, he ought to stay away from Samsuck. The extra features of the moto x make it the best damn smartphone I've owned yet. :)

But this is true too. I shut a lot of my programs down if I am not using them. Just my thing :)

I am very the Nexus 5 and would love to try out a Moto X. From what I hear it's a great device and something I'd probably enjoy over the Nexus 5 simply because of the battery and active features.

The active notifications is a really awesome feature and I've had no problems with the battery life.

Man I would love to know what settings you're using to get 6+ hrs SOT! I'm barely pulling 4.

I play with my food

Gps on, Bluetooth & NFC off. WiFi on and connected 90 percent of the time. Auto brightness. Most of the time my LTE signal is pretty strong. I am rooted using elemental x kernel currently.

Thx for this. Sounds like we are in pretty similar situations except I've been rolling with NFC on and I am also unrooted and on stock kernel. Been thinking about trying to trade out my att model for a tmo one so I can unlock and root etc.

Whoops ! My mind went into Nexus mode as I typed this on my nexus. Everything is the same on the moto x except its not rooted. I have three devices and figured I'd leave the moto x stock.

But it won't be out until next October/November. Can you wait until then?

LOL we know nothing about what the ''Nexus 6'' will bring. Plus, I highly doubt it will have those specs.

If you wait for the Nexus 6 you will end up waiting for the nexus 7 as well. There is always something better if you wait 9 more months.

I have both the Note 3 and Nexus 5 (AT&T). It's tough to decide which to put my SIM in.
The battery life is fantastic on the Note and the screen is superior, the colors really pop--the Nexus screen is slightly washed out to me. Having said that, even with Nova Prime on the Note, there are too many settings for my taste. The IU of the Nexus appeals to me more, along with the size.
Good luck with your decision, it's a dilemma!
PS everybody seems to love the Moto X, I haven't used one.

I will weigh in here too. I have the Nexus 5, and the Moto X. I often have a hard time deciding what to use for the day. If I had to choose one device, I think it would be the moto. The active notifications, and the always listening are good features on a phone that can easily last me 15+ hours.

Included current battery stats.

Can anyone help me decide which phone would be the best?

I have both a Moto X dev ed and a GNote3 on Verizon. I wanted the Nexus 5, but of course, I can't get that phone on Verizon.

I really like both the Moto X and the GNote3 but since I use my phone as my MP3 player/radio while jogging, the GNote3 is a bit too big for that. And the Moto X performs faster in speedtests than the GNote3. The Moto X is basically stock android+, the plus being Motorola Assist, touchless controls, always listening and active display, all of which are features I really like and use. The Moto X is snappy, lag-free, already has KitKat and the battery life is great, but the camera on the Moto X is not that great, the screen is not full HD and there is not much developer support for the Moto X.

On the plus side of the GNote3 is the screen is full HD, the camera is better than the Moto X and I really like how big the screen is for all situations except for when I jog. I don't find much use for the Spen, but if you would, then of course only the GNote3 has it.

I don't have the Nexus 5 to compare to, but the thing I think I would not like is the battery life compared to the Moto X and the GNote3. If I had the Nexus 5 I would want to compare the speed to the Moto X on Verizon because that is important to me. If the speed were the same or close, it would be a hard choice between the Moto X dev ed and the Nexus 5 for me, but I would have gone with the Nexus 5 due to greater developer support. The GNote3 is great, too, but like I said, it is not as fast as my Moto X and is too bulky for me to use when I jog.

How easy is the Nexus 5 to root compared to the Moto X? I haven't unlocked/rooted my dev ed Moto X yet but when I was reading up on it, it is complicated. And the developer support is much greater for the Nexus 5.

Also, how long can you go with the Nexus 5 battery wise compared to the Moto X?

Seems to me the Moto X is a good daily driver phone/texting device, but the Nexus 5 is better if you want to root and ROM?

I have rooted my X, and it was pretty easy. Unlocked the bootloader too. My Nexus, as of right now, I think I am going to leave stock, but you are correct in that there is more support for the Nexus. My X runs circles around the 5 for battery life though.

Did you root before the Kit Kat update? Because after the Kit Kat update from what I was reading on XDA, you had to roll back to the camera update and then root unless I misunderstood.
