Moto Z Play Droid Storage Question

I found a place that has some Z2 Plays for Verizon sitting on a shelf in unopened boxes. Since they've been sitting for a couple of years, uncharged, do you think they're still OK to purchase?

Will I still get full use from them?

The batteries won't be in the best of condition, batteries deteriorate with age as well as use. It depends on the price wether it's a bargain or not, factor in the cost of having the battery replaced in the near future. You could buy one and check it out, then return it if it doesn't hold its charge providing it's not sold without the option of a refund.

Cost is $185 and returns are accepted. Might be worth taking the chance. I really love this model.

I have two Z2 Plays in the family and even after a year of every day use the battery still gets through a normal day.....sun up to sun down off the charger. So even if it's been sitting for a year I bet you would get decent battery life. At least way better than your current phone; for less than $200

That's with charging it regularly. If the phone's been sitting on the shelf for a year, draining the battery (even turned off it drains a little), the battery could be totally flat (meaning nonchargeable) by now.

But, since it's returnable, it's certainly worth the few minutes of risk.

Usually new phones have battery charged to 50% for shelf storage and should be able to be stored up to 4 years on the shelf without permanent damage.

Ok, thx. I was mistaken, as it a Z Play, not a Z2 Play.
