Moto Z2 Force Hands-On Reviews, Initial Impressions, Unboxings

Agree it's not mediocre, it's got good specs in terms of SOC and storage, like the design as well. But you are looking at close to $900 plus dollars after tax, if you want a phone with decent battery capacity since you have to get the battery mod. I tend to purchase pretty much every flashing on impulse ( have U11, S8 and XZ premium). I didn't have any impulse feeling to spend $900 on this phone. Waiting for Note 8, iPhone and Pixel now, passing Motorola this time around since don't feel like supporting their braindead decisions.

I don't see releasing a mediocre phone on all carriers as competing. I don't understand why Motorola is so good at budget and midrange phones and so bad at flagships.

Mike, I don't think you understand what Ry is saying here. The vast majority of the US public buys its phones at carrier stores. If you want to accuse Motorola of not competing it was in 2015 when not a single carrier carried Motorola's flagship. The simple fact is that you have to be in the stores if you want to sell in the US.

We get that specs are the overriding factor you consider when buying a phone, and that's fine for you. But the vast majority of the people who go into carrier stores will never know nor care that this phone has a smaller battery than its predecessor. All they will care about is whether the phone will last all day, and most reviews have confirmed that it will.

I checked it out at Verizon but didn't learn much since the Hasselblad was attached to it and they were unwilling/unable to take it off. So I didn't get a feel for it. I didn't like the way the Shattershield felt on the edges of the screen and around the fingerprint sensor, but with a screen protector on it, I doubt it would be an issue. I couldn't test the native camera app and the Hasselblad wouldn't even work for whatever reason.
