I was wondering if anyone is willing to port the cliq 2's motoblur to the G2. I asked over at xda and they just laughed. :( Can anyone help Please?

I'm not sure we will laugh at you, but it's gonna be really hard to get anyone to do it.

That's because most people hate motoblur, and with how deep it runs it would be a difficult task.

People have been working on getting Sense on the Galaxy S phones for months now and are still not to a usable build. And that's with an entire team.

I think there are "Themes" that mimic Motoblur for ADW. It would be too much of a task for anyone to take up to port the whole thing over.

If it is possible at all it would be very very difficult.

MotoBlur 2 (used on the Cliq 2) is an impressive piece of software engineering. However it works as well as it does because it is so deeply plumbed into the Android OS. It isn't just a random vendor app or widget whose APK can be stripped & redistributed; MotoBlur appears to involve substantial edits to numerous Android components.

Furthermore much of MotoBlur/MotoBlur 2 is proprietary. Motorola hasn't, and won't, release the code for others to look over & mine for ideas of how to get working on non-Motorola platforms.

Finally I'll note that Motorola is behind on releasing OS updates, possibly indicating they too are finding the task of porting MotoBlur/MotoBlur 2 an ongoing challenge. Early Blur devices like the Cliq are still waiting for updates a year after they were announced, and nearly a year after they were promised (2Q'10).

If you want MotoBlur you're going to have to get a Motorola handset. I don't think you can even replicate it very well: MotoBlur / MotoBlur 2 are big & complex & sprawling because it appears they must be. What MotoBlur/MotoBlur 2 do is hard work, and trying to strip & transplant them would be even harder work.
