Motorola Bionic

BGR has info on the new Droid X; can someone explain why a new "X?" What is the difference between it and the Bionic; it seems as though it would be the next generation?

The DX2 would most likely be 3G and the Bionic is 4G. That's what I'm guessing.

thats what im afraid of. it would stand to reason that this is a sign that there will be a premium for 4g. otherwise, why would you go to the expense of building two nearly identically specced phones with completely different styling just to differentiate 3G and 4G. if there was no difference in pricing they would just sell one phone, if your in 4G area great, if not oh well.

If they have the same screen, processor, and size, why have both of them; it seems redundant to me? If the X2 had more improvements, I could understand, but if it has the same specs as the Bionic??
Same thing I was thinking. It does seem rather redundant. If it really is just a 3G Bionic then that pretty much confirms that LTE devices will have higher data plans.

but that's still cool that Verizon is offering new, high(er) end devices without forcing its users to pay more expensive data plans in the process...assuming any of this is true.

I doubt the DX2 will have the same specs as the Bionic sans LTE radio because that would seriously cannibalize sales especially if they were selling in the same time frame.

I'm betting the DX2 will have small differences that set it apart from Bionic.

But with that being said what made the DX stand out was its screen size amongst DLNA and all the other what nots. And it seems that the Bionic has all of that and more making it a beefed up DX. But I guess we'll see what happens and have to wait for the specs of the DX2 to see whats going on

I don't think Motorola's intention was to market this as the actual successor to the X, even if it kinda seems that way.

Motorola droidx 2 its has the bionic specs but as of now it's in the same shell as the droidx its a waste to me to make them both but some people may like the droidx case more than the thicker bionic

Maybe the Bionic has a smoother back because of the larger battery???

I have no qualms about them putting in a powerful battery, as we all know how energy hungry smartphones are, Cory. :) I also have no complaints about the thickness of my Storm2. My Touch is so thin it's difficult to hold. Others may disagree with that (like Steve Jobs and his fanatical fans), but at some point, thinness becomes a goal that overshadows good sense (like making a thicker case to hold a longer-lasting battery). My touch doesn't get good battery life, especially if playing a game or using wifi. I'd gladly trade the thinness for twice the battery life.

The Bionic is going to have a 1930 mAh battery...very large; hope it is to make it last, not because it eats it up from normal operations

Also looks like te DX2 will not have a front facing camera (at least not one mentioned) so I would lean toward 3G.

That site is just more or less just regurgitating all the message board rumors. I can copy and paste the Bionic specs and call it the DX2 as well, doesn't make them legit.

Well, at least they're all here in one spot...sorry if it's a repeat of knowledge you already have read.
