Switched from a Droid Razr Maxx HD to a Droid Maxx. Getting terrible 4G in places where the old phone used to get great reception. Had the sim card changed and still the same issue. Anyone else have issues with 4G on the Droid Maxx?

I have an Ultra and have been getting very good 4G. What firmware are you running and what is the signal strength when you check under settings/about phone/network type and strength(the lower the dB the better the signal) ? I also had a RAZR HD and data is much better with the Ultra. If your not on kit Kat 4.4 yet it may help upgrading, or you can try a factory reset to see if it helps. Another thing you can switch from global data mode to lte/CDMA under settings/mobile networks. I always change it as it seems to save battery being on VZW with no GSM.

No problems here. I switched from a gs3 to the maxx because the Samsung got terrible 4G in most places. I've been thrilled with the reception of this phone.

How long have you had your Maxx? If you are within the 14 days, get it returned and swapped out.

Since you have already swapped out the SIM, you have been to Verizon, so there should be a trail on this.

If the network settings are right, then I would lean toward a defective phone, and I would get Verizon to replace it.

I have been enjoying the best reception ever during my first week on the MAXX

Reception is awesome

Thanks for all of the responses, not sure if I will return or keep

If you are within the 14 days, it is a no-brainer. Your phone isn't working right. Get it replaced, or otherwise made right.

I don't think it is a widespread Maxx issue or else it would have come up before now. Sounds like a defective handset, again assuming the settings are right.

If you are having 4G issues with the Maxx, and you previously had good Verizon 4G performance in the same location(s), my suggestion is to get to Verizon customer service and start getting the issue noted.

I went from an HTC Thunderbolt to the Maxx, and the performance is way better in all categories that relate to radios (dropped calls, data speed, browsing speed, and maintaining 4G signal).

My non-tech wife went from an HTC Droid Incredible (3G) to the Maxx, and she is happy with the speeds and call clarity, as well as phone performance in places where she used to drop or miss calls.

I don't think the 4g reception is too good on the Droid Maxx. I don't get good reception at my work. It was slightly better with my Droid Bionic. Also, the wifi isn't too good either. I have a hard time staying connected with my phone at my sister's house on their wifi and neither my sister nor her husband have trouble staying connected.

I just recently got the droid maxx from Verizon and had similar issues they said that alot of the phones don't have dual antennas here is the catch there is a application on your account called the advanced calling feature that fixes this but they don't turn it on unless you ask for it .

The Droid Maxx has dual antennas.
