Stereo speakers, better camera, better battery life, 1080p or 1440p screen (either is fine as long as it is more accurate and brighter) wireless charging, headphone jack at the bottom, usb type c port , 128gb model, improved leather backing, an option to change the color of the aluminium band

that'd be sick ... I'd add fingerprint scanner, although they already stated they'll "never" use them (which I don't believe he meant to say) cause they're "unreliable."

They didn't use one because they couldn't get a good one.

Re: moto x 3rd gen ?

1. Better camera (leaps and bounds hopefully-stop knowingly using cheap cameras moto.

2. Keep the design and the size of the phone, I love it. It is very durable and attractive.

3. QI charging!!

4. More moto maker colors and better colors. Maybe even patterns? Like plaid or camp or something to mix it up.

5. Keep pure editions, add better radios. The radios on the PE make me sad because they don't cover all of at&t's LTE bands. Sucks that my samsung always have more bars or LTE than my moto.

Part of it is the camera software though. They could stick the same Sony sensor that Apple uses and still not get iPhone-level photos.

If Motorola can hire a specialist just for the camera and get it right then I'd be satisfied.

I'm sure they're working hard on it ... if they expect to complete with the G4 and S6, they better improve big time over last year.

Moto maker is a genius idea, and a great selling point. Hopefully the camera will be on par, and if they really want to hit a home run, and differentiate themselves they should use a 3500+ camera.

A lot of people are obviously getting great battery life with the S6, but if they could combine the modern energy efficiency technology with a larger battery, it'd be the smart phone to beat IMO.

As a Droid Maxx owner holding out for the new Moto X or Nexus (would have the Nexus 6 if dang VZW would offer it in white), must haves over the 2014 Moto X are battery and camera. I mention the Droid Maxx because Moto was able to fit a large battery in this thing and they need to do so in the next Moto X. No one can tell me they are able to tell the difference in mm's. Put a 3300+ mah battery, camera with OIS and 5.2-5.5" and I'll be stoked. Why do manufacturers keep producing these phones with batteries that can't keep up...just don't get it.

why not just get the Nexus 6 through Moto? u can get it activated on VZ and they offer 0% financing (if u have the credit) ... I guess it's too late now.

to your point, the maxx was and is still a great phone. I don't understand for the life of me why they'll sacrifice a few mm for a few hundred mAh

Only reason I haven't bought the Nexus straight from Moto is bc VZW will give me a $25 bill credit if I sign up for EDGE, thus offsetting the cost of the phone per month...so I'm holding out til the fall. Don't really feel like dropping $700 on a phone outright.

makes sense! hopefully VZ won't take 6 months to release the Nexus this time, assuming they even carry it.

if the moto x comes correct with an improved camera and larger battery, I'll jump all over it. those 2 things aside (which are obviously 2 of the note important features) the moto x is my favorite phone. I just love the ux and moto maker.

A real camera. Compared to anything from samsung the moto camera quality is saaaaaad. I love the brand, love the phones, love the support. But if I cant take a halfway decent picture of my toddler then I can't keep a moto.

Funny how having a kid changes that for you. I've become a father for the first time recently and now I tell my wife to take the photos with her iPhone 6 instead of my first gen Moto X.

Camera has jumped to the top of my list.

I have XT1053 DE. I like many aspects of the phone, but not that it was designed to be a throwaway. When I have to replace it, here are some improvements I'd like to see:

Fix the bug where it can't see or connect well to certain older phone repeaters / signal boosters.

Category 6 LTE with at least 4x4 MIMO and 64 QAM.

Removable battery. Motorola can sell 2nd / replacement batteries and more than 1 customized back to many customers.

Rubberized and deeply grooved / patterned back to reduce slips and drops.

Much stronger glass. Do Motorola's product designers have kids, or what?

Wireless charging. The female part of the USB plug is a weak spot, as well as those flanges on the male part.

Less than 4.5" screen at 720p. Improve the color and brightness rather than increasing size. This is a telephone, not a book reader. It has to fit comfortably in the pocket and hand. People who want higher res and bigger screens can cast screen or hotspot to a computer.

External micro-SD slot. I want to be able to carry around lots of videos of my kids, without otherwise impacting performance. Market it as the family-friendly phone, and let other companies have the tiny niche avant garde market.

Camera with 3-axis OIS.

Front-facing stereo speakers.

AM/FM radio.

Too sleepy to remember the others I've been thinking of.

"People who want higher res and bigger screens can cast screen or hotspot to a computer"

there's 0 chance of a 4.5" 720p display, and the quote I mentioned makes no sense.

that said, I'll meet in the middle and go 1080p on a 5" display. I think it'll be BT 5.2-5.5, but 1440p isn't worth sacrificing battery IMO ... if you're gonna give me 4000 mAh, OK, but anything less than that shouldn't have 1440.

at this point im more inclined to wait and buy the moto g 3rd gen. the leaked specs look really killer for a budget device.

I like the 5'2 display. The resolution is great and improved in the X3 so has the battery. Id like the dimple from the X back. idc about a fingerprint scanner. I want dual speakers (1 speaker in front is a foul) and i would love the headphone jack to be on the bottom. I would love the camera and the light for the camera to be separate.
