That RAZR is truly disappointing - Since January users have to open the phone to use Google Assistant, and Moto is not even committing to fix this critical user-function, despite still advertising that Assistant can be used with the phone closed. It is a serious defect for a phone that promotes usability when closed. The Lenovo/Moto/RAZR support/discussion board shows how little Moto is taking any responsibility of a broken feature Moto specifically promotes. Moto RAZR... outrageous you have to open the phone to use Google Assistant, awkward, not as advertised, more wear on the hinge and screen fold... since Jan '24 - still that way in June. Great idea, but someone dropped the ball on this critical function.

I can use the Google Assistant with the Razr+ 2024 closed just fine. Did you update to Android 14 yet?

A14 installed OTA. Brought Gemini to RAZR. RAZR 40+ (2023) will still not operate hands free. Use of voice by mic or earbuds with A. Assistant or Gemini results in ext. display message of " Flip open for more..." . So if the phone is in your pocket, it is just an expensive lump. One can unlock the phone, and press icon to open the assistant - but that is far from hands free operation. So can't initiate a call, or initiate a text message, or any command, or initiate streaming music, lithout unlocking the phone and opening the assistant by selecting the app.. This is contrary to the marketing - still posted as of today for "high useability when closed that claims to be able to do all of those things by simple voice commands. It does not work on the RAZR 40. Users are severely pissed over this failure to deliver on Motorola marketed functionality.
