I like both, and I can't decide.

Both are refurbished and from Walmart.com, just so we are clear.

Any suggestions? I need to decide by the new year and am slightly leaning towards the Xoom.

Aaron: Not only is Xoom a great tablet, it gets the most recent updates in a prompt timeframe. By far better than most. I have no quarrel with the Acer.

The xoom gets prompt updates? You're kidding right I purchased one on launch day was told in 30 days we would have 4g radio and a working sd card. Guess what 8 months later we got 4g and a half baked sd card slot. Yea you. Can't write to it but ya can read from it. They came out with xoom2 and made the xoom obsolete before it got completed. Motorola is the biggest losing thieves I've ever seen. Oh wait sent them my xoom in June to have new radio installed since the original one went bad. 4 months later I get it back damaged

I won't ever own another moto product again.

It sounds like you have a problem with verizon. Motorola makes an amazing product. Just because you got yours through verizon and have to put up with their BS, dont blame motorola. I have the wifi and have no problems at all. Rooted my DX and now my Xoom has service everywhere.

Found one for $330, gonna get it on the thirty-first! Why? My New Year's resolution is to spend less money on stuff I don't need.

I agree I would not own ANOTHER moto product but I would buy another Xoom. Moto may have messed up, especially with the xyboard, its a joke. The original xoom is awesome.

Motorola was responsible for adding the 4g radios in them not Verizon, Motorola also said they would have a fully operational SD card and they didn't and still don't. Motorola got my xoom back in June and returned it 4 months later damaged so tell me how all this is verizons fault?

Phil63: I could be mistaken, but I don't think Aaron is concerned about a 4G problem. What is being discussed here, as I understand it, is a choice between the Xoom and the Acer 500. The Xoom WiFi is solid, and updates have been timely and effortless. Also, I know of no Android tablet that has, stock, full external SD access. It would be nice if they came that way, but none of them do. That said; the "File Manager HD" app will provide reasonable read/write access to the External Micro SD Drive.

Aaron; Walmart has a good return policy. Get the Xoom, and test it for a week or two. If it dos not work for you go back and get the "500".

I don't think you will regret it.
