Move Apps to SD card?

Is it better to have apps on the phone or on the SD card? Are there advantages of either?
I don't think I have any on the SD card at the moment and I thinking of moving some there. Do some make more sense to have on the SD card?

I'm also a bit worried about doing this. There is a current issue with my phone (others have it as well), where some apps, even though they are on the phone, won't install unless I unmount the SD card.

I "hear" that the phone's internal memory is faster than the SD Card, so I keep my apps on internal storage. - I guess it makes sense to move big apps to the SD Card that don't use a lot of data transfer.

You need to clean the .android-secure folder on your SD card and that will resolve your market issues.

I use the app "Astro" to see things on the SD card. Is there some other way? Do you think there is really something there that I need to delete that "Astro" is not seeing (or allowing me to see)?

I went through this on my g/f's stock Evo and we talked about it another thread.

To fix my g/f's market issues, i powered off the phone, removed the sd card, rebooted, installed an app from market (angry birds seasons), powered down the phone, re-inserted the card and she was fine.

I've read that others have had to format their SD cards completely (after backing up their data to a pc) and I remember someone saying they just erased the android_secure folder - you may want to try to erase the whole folder and see if that cleans up, or do what I did with removing the SD card, or if that all fails backup the card, partition it and format it. (I know I didn't say partition earlier, but if you're backing up the whole card you might as well set it up nice for Android).

I move large apps that I don't use regularly. Downside for me is the boot takes longer since my apps from SD aren't available to me as fast and have to load. Worth it to me though.

Doesn't moving apps with widgets to the SD card also prevent you from using the widget? I know at least one of the app developers I contacted said that. (If not, I'll be contacting them again. ;-) )
