Moved from Pixel 2 XL to Note 8 - few questions

The SPen is an amazing thing, IMO. Tech industry insiders recently revealed that Apple has been exploring a "new" phone design - it has a stylus!

This is so utterly frustrating for those of us who live/work in the tech field, as it was only yesterday that Steve Jobs said "I don't need a stylus - I have 10 of them". Combine that with Apple's penchant for announcing that it's just invented some new feature that's totally amazing - but it's a feature that's actually been on the market for years - and millions of mindless buyers rush to get it.

If you haven't yet tried, consider using your SPen in meetings for notes, or just to gather your own thoughts. Handwriting is relaxing, more expressive and the natural inclusion of sketches helps capture ideas much better then thumbing a keyboard. Once you get hooked, there's no going back.

Thanks but I use a laptop in meetings. I don't want to use the pen for notes because it'll be slower than typing and there's a good chance I won't be able to make out my own writing when I go back to look at the notes. I find the texture/feel of the pen's nub against the glass kinda weirdm still getting used to it. Doesn't feel natural like a pencil/pen on paper and isn't as frictionless as other plastic tipped styluses I've used.

I'm pretty much using the pen as my finger, which I don't want to do. I want to do something productive with it that I can't do with just my finger or do things faster/easier with it.

You may want to try another nib in your spen, there are a couple of choices, one softer and another harder. If you currently have the softer nib in your spen, the harder one may give you the feel you're looking for. As for spen functions, air view and direct input are some things that the spen offers that are not easily duplicated any other way.
